7-Month Window Does NOT Work...

Just got off the phone with MS (yes, I had that phone ringing at 9 a.m. this morning) and was on hold for 40 minutes before a seriously nasty CM told me there is no availability ANYWHERE on DVC property beginning December 27. IN fact, there is no reason to even call tomorrow, either, as she read me the availability at all the DVC resorts, and no single resort has four consecutive nights available during our vacation window.

errrr...that stinks. I would call back anyway and make sure that nasty CM didn't make a mistake

What? Wait?

Don't you as a DVC member OWN PROPERTY at WDW!?!?!? If you own it, how could there NOT be anywhere for you to stay?? That makes no sense!?!?

Christmas is a SUPER busy time for DVC. Booking at 11 months is really important at certain times if the year including Christmas, Easter/spring break, and food and wine festival. Every member doesn't have a room every week of the year.

Did the CM offer to put you on a waitlist? If not, call back and ask to be put on it for any resort.

Christmas is really busy for DVC, always try to book as early as possible at your home resort then try to change to another resort at 7 months.

We just found out that we have a reason to book a trip -- we originally planned to be with family for Christmas, but now we can book a trip... just found out last night.. Otherwise, I would have had that 11-month ressie for a 2-br. at Boardwalk.

Aiyiyi. Sorry for the nasty CM and that they don't have anything right now. Go for the waiting list. A lot can happen in 7 months.

I get it, I thought you wanted another resort other than your home resort so you waited.

Call and waitlist your dates for any resort, who knows, you may get something. Then you could book a room only reservation and cancel it if your waitlist comes through.

I agree . . . people have to cancel all the time, get on the list! Your plans changed, right?

Can you use your points at a resort? Or is that a total waste of points?

DT -- I got hold of a lovely CM named Hillary who was very helpful and nice (the others WERE NOT) and she set up two waitlists for me. So keep your fingers crossed.

Using DVC points at a regular resort (they call it the Disney Collection) is not a good plan. Th epoints value is way too high. And if you need to make a change, your points go back into holding for Disney Collection only, not for a DVC room.

And yes, I waitlisted. DVC allows members to carry two waitlists at a time.

We are trying to change from the 7 month for early dec. We are at SSR from the 6 to 11 and then BCV from 11 to 17. I call every few days to see in maybe the 10 th opens up at BCV. They will only move the whole block, not a day at a time.
