DVC Resort Question???

Goodmorning everyone. For some reason after reading DisneyTeacher's DVC thread I have been looking at every site I can find for information on DVC I am really interested in Saratoga Springs, anyhow, my question is: If I buy into DVC with Saratoga Springs as my "home" resort can I for example stay at AKL one year, and WL another year if I want to? Or do I have to stay at SS for the rest of my trips? Thanks in advance:)

You can use your DVC points and stay at a WDW resort. But it is not a wise use of points.

For example, during May 2003, a Garden View room at the Polynesian Resort costs 37 DVC points per night for Sunday-Thursday. A studio room at the Beach Club Villas was 13 points per night Sunday-Thursday; a one bedroom villa 28 points per night.

DVC points may not be used for the Wilderness Lodge, the Boardwalk Inn, or the Beach Club Resorts as these resorts have DVC properties. But you could use your SSR DVC points and stay at any of the DVC properties.

Okay, I think I get it now. I can stay anywhere I want, however, if I choose to stay at a resort that is not a DVC resort then it will cost me!:laugh

Alextina,

If you're going to Wilderness Lodge anyway, stay in one of the villas instead of a regular room. They're bigger for less points. And if you stay at any DVC property you can pool hop at any other DVC resort (not sure about every non DVC resort). And you can use your points to stay at Disneyland too. Although we love WDW we basically bought our points to use on our annual trip to DL and it's worth it. Another thing you can do is stay half your trip at a DVC and half at another Disney hotel if you just want to experience it without having to use up all your points.

:)

Yep, and the same thing goes for Disneyland and the Cruise Line. They have an option to use your points there, and some do, but personally, I don't think it is a great deal. If you have a bunch of points, and no other way of using them, it is a great deal!

We own at OKW, and have stayed at Boardwalk Villas, Beach Club Villas, Vero Beach and soon Hilton Head. One thing to remember is that you can book at your home resort up to 11 months in advance, but only 7 months in advance at the other DVC resorts, so if you plan on going during Christmas, or any other busy time, book at your home resort as soon as possible, and then check back 7 months before you travel at the resort you want to stay at for availability. You can always change your reservation.

One more question: Where do I go to find out all of the details on buying in. I have gone to disney.com and don't see any price lists or anything like that, all I see is FAQ and resort descriptions ect.... Thanks again.

Did you send in for the video yet? Or if you plan on buying into SS just call 800-500-3990 for info. Write down any questions you have before you call so you don't forget any details. There is no pressure what so ever to buy when you call and the operators can tell you what's available. Our contact is Robin Daniels (866-287-6484) and she is very personable and very helpful. If you plan on buying resale there are websites that posts what's available but I don't know them off hand.

One thing that many DVC members do is combine a DVC resort stay with a WDW resort hotel stay. The reason being that the DVC points for a weekend stay at a DVC resort are almost double what it costs for Sun-Thurs nights. Many DVC members stay at the DVC resort Sun-Thurs and then go to a WDW resort hotel for Fri-Sat. This conserves their DVC points for future stays.

For direct from Disney sales information, go to www.disneyvactionclub.com

For resale info, I'm sure there are others, but I found this link from www.wdwig.com. Click here for resales: http://www.wdwig.com/dvc.htm

Good Luck!
