DVC Resellers
I am seriously considering buying into DVC and would like to work through a reseller to save some of the up front money( our preference would be to get into Beach Club so resale is our only option that I know of). I know many people have worked through the Timeshare company. Can anyone share their experiences with other resellers, good or bad? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Brian,
Congratulations on your decision, I think you'll be thrilled to join the "club". Just something to think about.... we considered the resale market for the same reasons you are, but after looking at the available posts, decided to just buy with Disney. It REALLY irritated me that most people would use all their points for the current year and a large majority would use most borrowed from the coming year, and then list an asking price that does not reflect this lack of points!!! I really feel like it's almost stealing, except you know about it when you buy. Essentially, you are paying money upfront for something you may not be able to use for quite a while. Our decision was SSR at 79 a point, and with the 50 years, I've not regretted my decision. I am also interested in the BCV as an add on, if I like it after my first stay, but I think I will just waitlist and get it from Disney and get teh points when i buy...my own personal preference. The money you save when you do all the math is just not that significant, IMO. Having said that, I did inquire about resale with Jackee (sp) at www.atimeshare.com and she was extremely knowledgeable and I would have felt comfortable with using her services. After all, it's not the agent's fault that people borrow points and then try to sell, and there are some contracts out there that are more reasonable with available points, you just have to find them. Good luck in your pursuit, and thanks for letting me get this off my chest! ![]() |

We purchased through The Timeshare Store. They were fine. I don't think outstanding, but I really had very little contact with them. Just emailed them the one I wanted to make an offer on, they emailed me back, with the acceptance, and then sent me the paperwork, that was it. They were very prompt in responding, and have a great selection. Make sure you take a look at any existing points that may come with the account. We received an additional 300 points that were banked. It basically gave us a free trip for our family. One other thing, remember that you can make an offer on what is for sale. We offered a bit lower than they were asking, and it was accepted. Saved us a couple thousand dollars. I have also heard good things about DVC by Resale, though I don't have any personal experience them. Before you make an offer, make sure you find out what the closing costs were. Each company will have a fixed closing cost that you will have to pay in addition to the cost of the resale. I think most of them are around $500.

LOL, I think I found one you should buy!
BOARDWALK VILLAS 1,000 Points 1,000 points for 2003 plus 1,000 more in 2004. $66 a point. Use Year: April Asking Price: $66,000 If I had $66,000 burning a hole in my pocket, you know what I would use it for. 1,000 points? How in the world do you use that each year? You could go for the entire month of January in a 2 bedroom villa at Boardwalk, and still have points left over.

You can actually put your name on a wait list with Disney for a BCV purchase. There are times that people have to get out of their contracts for one reason or another, or Disney will buy back something from the timeshare resellers and offer that property through Disney.
You will be paying a bit more money if you buy through Disney, but their financing is good if you need it and you know that you have peace of mind. Call 1/800/827/7140 at DVC to check it out. We bought 200 pts at DVC with Disney, and 100 at OKW with The Timeshare Store.

Hi Brian:
Congraulations on making your offer. We did our resale with Jaki Apetz with A Timeshare Broker. Is this the same broker that you are reffering to? She was great, did everything electronicly and via the mail. She walked us through ever step. If I recall the title company that we utilized was Holland & Night LLP. We purchased 310 points at OKW, the whole process took about 30 days from the time we made our offer till when we were in the DVC system. I would use her again. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Spike:
It is indeed the same Jaki Apetz with A Timeshare Broker. They accepted our offer at $70/point for BCV so now we are just waiting for Disney approval. Thanks for your input on Jaki. So far so good with her service. Everything has been great to this point. Brian :) |

Re: DVC Resellers
There has not been any action on this thread for some time. Can anyone who has bought more recently through a resale broker give me feedback on their experience? I have a friend I have gotten interested in the DVC and I would like to inform her about the resale points as well.

Not that there aren't loads of people here with information NokeyNose, but if you need a quick answer you can try disboards. There are billions of people on there. Too many for my taste actually, but you will most likely get a fast response.

Too many DVC points? NST

Couple of things to consider. Watch month of packages. If you have points in all different months I think it would drive you completely insane trying to keep up with it otherwise. And you REALLY have to watch closing costs. Buying a smaller contract, you can easily run the cost per point up $5-10 after you pay closing costs. There are often deals direct from DVC that save money so unless you are wanting to be in a certain location there really isn't a great difference in direct or resale.
