DVC Benefits
Just wondering what benefits exist for DVC members I am assuming there is some type of discount on park tickets, restaurants, etc. I have not seen these posted anywhere before and I wanted to know what to expect with our new DVC membership. Thanks for any help.

I was too lazy to type, so I just copied from WDWIG:
Members have access to toll-free vacation planning through "Member Services." Member Services can help with flights, car rentals, room requests and Priority Seating for meals. They are also available to assist in booking "Member Getaway" vacations, to arrange for groceries to be delivered to your room, or to just answer questions. Members have pool-hopping privileges at other Walt Disney World Resorts (excluding the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Stormalong Bayat the Yacht and Beach Club and Beach Club Villas), when pools are not at capacity. Members receive discounts on golf, shopping, and park passes for length of stay. Dining discounts at select restaurants are occasionally offered (usually 10% - 20%), and discounted tickets are available for Disney Quest, Pleasure Island and the water parks. Members receive free valet parking at Disney's BoardWalk Resort and the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. Reduced room rates are available at DVC resorts if staying on a cash reservation. The price of your yearly vacation only changes by the increase in annual dues, usually much less than the yearly increase in resort room rates. DVC members receive a 10% discount at the Disney Store.

Wow! I learned two new things....
Free valet parking at BWV and WLV and I had no idea I could be doing my priority seatings through member services....that have saved me several long distance calls!! Thanks for the info Mickey!

DVC members get a discount on length of stay tickets only (Unlimited Park Hopper). When you buy those tickets at check-in, the front desk has the leeway to drop either the first or last day from the UPH. UPH tickets purchased in advance must be for the full length of stay.

In addition to parking & discounts of food...let's not forget what I think is the biggest benefit....THE SIZE OF THE ROOMS.
No, not a dollar discount...but if you don't like sitting on top of other family members, DVC provides seperate bedrooms, a kitchen, jacuzzi and huge showers. I know a lot of people like simple discounts, but the nice thing for me is the comforts DVC provides. ![]() |

AMEN!!! I love my family, but I get enough togetherness in the parks all day. It's so nice to go back to the villa and be able to have some alone time, if only to read the paper. I think we all appreciate this feature.

I am all for a big room, however, I recently had the, uhh, *joy* of staying at Old Key West in a studio villa and I wasn't so happy. The room was about half the size of my room at the Polynesian! Maybe the newer resorts have bigger and nicer rooms....

I have stayed at both Poly and OKW. Both are great. I would agree that a Poly room is the better choice over a studio at OKW.
But for most of us, who use 1-bedroom & 2-bedroom villas, there is no doubt, OKW is the hands down winner over Poly. Poly just simply does not come close in space & comfort. It is all a matter of what your needs are. ![]() |

I am sure the one or two bedrooms are larger than the Poly's standard room, however, I did not like my stay at OKW at all. I did not feel any of the Disney Magic, like I did at the Poly. I felt like I was staying in my timeshare which is off site, and I could have gotten for free. Not only was my room tiny and from the year 1970 (ha, I am exaggerating! ;) ), I had little bugs (gnats) in my room the entire stay and the CMs did nothing to get them out of there.
Overall, I was very disappointed. :(

Kim,
I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience with OKW...it is our home resort, but we've only stayed there once so far. We will be staying there in March with my sister and her family. We really enjoyed many aspects of OKW such as it is so QUIET and RELAXING! We also enjoyed the fact that we could park right in front of our room and not have to trek across the parking lot for something we forgot!. When we stayed there, I did miss the ability to run down to the food court for a snack or go fill the refillable mugs and the interaction that we have with Cast Members when staying in a "traditional hotel". Every night of our stay there, we jumped in the van and drove over to Port Orleans FQ and swam and ate and refilled our mugs and then went back to our room. The 2 resorts are so close to each other, it took maybe 3 minutes!! The size of a studio at OKW is MUCH larger than a room at the All Stars and it is also a bit larger than our studio at Wilderness Lodge.
