Re: New Magic Your Way WDW Packages

I think it is great that Disney is making it easier to customize a trip but I'm with Roy on the pricing issue. I was really surprise to see that they hiked the same week the released a very positive finical statement and got passed a very favorable labor contract. They are now far and away the most expensive park in the Orlando area.

I just hope the extra money goes to improving the parks and the resorts, and not lining the pockets of the executive suite.

Re: New Magic Your Way WDW Packages

Just when I figured out what pass to get...lol figures. Now mickey, you have to help me. What pass to I get for someone staying for 4 days, using the parks for 3, and possibly doing a water park? I am totally lost...to much information..lol An unlimited park hopper at my resort for three days would have been $170.....now what?

Dana

You can still get the UPH through the end of the year, so that would be an option for you. You can just add those to a room only reservation.

For the majority of people who travel to Disney, these prices will now be less expensive than previous park passes. While it is true a one day park pass was raised to $60, you can now get a 7 day pass for under $200. Many people, especially during the winter months only want to do the parks. A 7 day pass for $200, or $230 to include hopping privliges is a screaming deal. The cost of a 7 day park hopper plus is $336 right now.

DisneyMom, since the discounts for next Spring have expired, I am not sure there is much we can do right now. It is possible there may be other discounts released, but unlikely. This kind of caught everyone off guard. I was told something big was coming a week or so ago, but I had no idea it would be this.

I am so glad that we have season passes through next October. It's going to take a Goofy like me a while to figure this out!

Re: New Magic Your Way WDW Packages

I am not sure that I like the new structure. You have to stay longer to get the discount, and we all know that staying longer means spending more money, more meals, more stuff from the parks. Right now, a 4 day park hopper, that never expires is $202 but with this new plan to get the exact same thing, a base ticket with hopping previleges, that never expires will cost $235. Five days compares to Park Hopper - $230 or Magic Your Way - $263.

Am I doing the math right, Mickey? I know what Disney is trying to do, it is brilliant marketing, trying to keep people on site for longer periods of time, definately the financially savvy thing to do, but from the stand point of someone who can't seem to get away for a 7 - 10 day vacation, this does not seem that great of a deal.

Re: New Magic Your Way WDW Packages

Saw this this morning on Mousesavers. We're booked for May on rented DVC points and we all have APs, but I'm dreading taking out the calculator and adding up the whole "shebang" for an October trip; trying to figure out if the MYW Package plus dining option makes more sense for us than renewing our APs and booking room only is really going to be a taxing hour or two of option weighing. After all, one thing I cannot stand is not getting the best deal out there!!

Oh, I agree! If I actually paid myself for the hours spent in planning (much as my employer does), I couldn't afford me to worry so much about saving the last $10!

Re: New Magic Your Way WDW Packages

I bought AP's for my trip in Feb. Would and could I get a refund for these and do at least a 7 day package. This seems much cheaper than AP's and mine don't have any plusses.

That is a good question. I would call and ask. APs are typicall non-refundable, but since most likely you just have the voucher, they may let you trade that for another pass. One thing to note thought is the general public discounts have expired for February, so if you change passes, you won't be getting a discount on your room.

I think that AP is still the way to go if you visit every year and stagger your visits so that you get two trips out of the AP. You get AP discounts on rooms plus the 2 trips (or more if you are that lucky).

Sounds like the math is correct. One other option is you can get a 7 day hopper now, without the extras, and with hopping and the non-expiration for about $300 or so, after taxes. If you know you will be coming back, that might be worth it for you.

I don't think my room resv. that I got with the general public code will be affected, correct. But it comes down to what it would cost for 11 days at WDW.

Re: New Magic Your Way WDW Packages

Can I still get a FL resident rate on a room at say 45 dollars a night...and this price on the tickets...or is the room discount going to leave?

You should be fine with that. Get your room as soon as you can. though, and then buy your tickets after the first of the year. FL residents also get a 10% discount on these tickets.

royorb1, I had assumed you had booked the room with an AP discount.

Re: New Magic Your Way WDW Packages

Too bad you can't add the dining option to an AP. That sounds like a great deal on the food!
