Pal Mickey Rental Program Ends December 1, 2004

Beginning Dec. 1, Walt Disney World guests will no longer have the option to rent Pal Mickey at the theme parks, but can continue to purchase the interactive toy to use.

Pal Mickey will be sold as a retail product in all existing merchandise locations at the current sale price of $56.33 plus tax.

A "Happiest Celebration on Earth Special Edition" Pal Mickey will be introduced in May 2005, and a new Pal Mickey costume line will be introduced later next Summer.

I have been watching ebay but they are either selling them for the same cost as you can buy them at the parks, used for close to $50 or outrageous prices- I was 2 min away from winning a bid just two days ago and in the last min it was jumped up to like $55- I dont know if it is worth the effort.

Oh, that's too bad. I was thinking of renting one this trip...and we arrive the day after the renting ends! I wonder what Disney will do with the rentals? If anyone knows, please let me know!

I have been asking the same question and nobody has answered me yet- I hope there is some flood of used ones on ebay soon or perhaps after the holidays-

Thanks a bummer! I thought Pal Mickey would be great to rent for the day, but I dont know about buying him ~ plus, with 4 kids, they'd be all fighting over who will get to keep him in their room!

I actually thought about renting him this trip too. I just wanted to see if he would be any fun. But I really don't want to have to pay $60 just to find out I don't like it. That's too bad.

I want to get hold of one of those Special edition Mickey's, I think that would be the only way I would consider buying one. It's kind of a drag that they are doing away with renting them.

We bought Pal Mickey last year and he was worth every dime.I saved up for him before we went and couldnt consider renting and giving him back.He stays on our bedroom door and every morning gives us a friendly reminder of our trip.
If you were thinking of renting please consider buying we have had our moneys worth 50 times over.

There's a Pal Mickey on EBay that has like 3 hours left. The highest bid at this point is $40...Just thought someone might want to check it out!

Disney Character Warehouse at Sawgrass Mills is selling the current Pal Mickey's for $27.99 plus $10.95 shipping. I got one two weeks ago and he is great.

Thank you so much for the info!! I just ordered mine, so he is on the way! My son is going to love him, and I think my DH is going to be rather surprised to see Mickey under the tree - Santa will really be coming to our house this year!

They were super nice there! They even waited to place my order untill my Disney card was ready to reload! When the box came it had a map of the parks as well as the receipt being in a real disnyworld bag- the Mickey was in a bag too so I wonder how im going to incorporate it into the wrapping! Santa is gonna Rock!
