WDW raises ticket prices, changes policy
Walt Disney World has changed it's ticket prices, and are now giving a discount for advance purchases on hopper passes. You can now save up to $17 by buying your tickets in advance rather than at check in or at the gate. One other change is that there is no longer a DisneyClub discount on 4 or 5 day park hoppers. You will still be able to get a Disney Club discount on other passes, even if you purchase in advance. Basically, if you purchase in advance, there has been no increase in the ticket price, only if you purchase at check in or at the gate.
New Walt Disney World ticket prices Advance purchases can be made from the Disney Store, online at Disney.com or from your travel agent. Last edited by mickey; 09-08-2002 at 10:31 AM. |

This really aggravates me because I purchased a Disney Club Membership in May based partly on the discount offered on Park Hoppers. I have no use for Ultimate or Park Hopper Plus Tickets, as we will not be there long enough to take advantage of those extras. I think those members who joined prior to 9/7/02 should still be given the discount on park hoppers. Especially since I have six to buy. Just my opinion.

I agree about the Disney Club membership! We joined this club when it was called the Magic Kingdom Club many years ago. Since then, they have slowly taken away the discounts offerred. I is no longer worth the yearly fee for the membership, unless you yearly purchase a package for your accomodations and tickets. Otherwise, the fee (can't remember what it is now $68? maybe) is not even "paid back" to you in discounts.
This is so disappointing. Not all of us can stay at WDW for a week long visit. Those of us with kids in high school have to take short stays around school holidays. We will be going at the end of this month. Hopefully, since we are tagging along with hubby at a convention, the desk will have some sort of discount for us. Other than that, I don't even know if I need to bring the card along!!!! Smallworld PS You used to be able to even use the card for a 10% discount at all shops INSIDE the parks. |

I agree, they have droped many of the perks, but I think it is well worth the money. The initial fee is $39.95 and renewal is $29.95. This year, I got a free subscription to Disney Magazine ($20), I got four free tickets to Lilo & Stitch to see a preview before grand opening ($25), have saved probably $50 at the Disney Store. Oh, wait, we also saved about $50 on our park tickets to Disneyland. So, I have gotten about $150 worth out of my membership this year, and haven't been to WDW yet, and I still have 6 months to go. Not to mention the other discounts that are available.

Yes - there are still some pretty good advantages. I was just looking forward to saving on our park hopper tickets as well (getting them today is out of the question for me). Maybe I'll feel better if the send me the Santa 2 tickets that are being offered now on Reel Tickets. Thanks. ;)

Tink, I think you can also call the Disney Club to get you tickets if it is a matter of being busy.
Thanks for the notice about The Santa Clause 2 tickets. I didn't see that this morning.

Are you sure it's only 29.50 to renew? I could have sworn me paid much more than that last year.
At any rate, we rarely use the local Disney Store anymore. They have shrunk it down to about the size of maybe a tractor trailor---it used to be so big with moving characters and all. Now it only carries the mattell merchandise you can buy at toys r us. We used to love to go buy watches, jewlry and such. :( The tickets were our main thing. The Disney magazine is ok, but most all of the info can be found online now. Other than discounts at individual hotels, there really isn't anything else we are able to use. Smallworld |
