EPCOT to add a Spain pavillion?
In an interesting new release coming out of Spain this morning, it appears that Disney has reached an agreement with the country of Spain this morning to build a Spanish pavillion in EPCOT at Walt Disney World. No other information is available, concerning location, rides or restaurants. Stay tuned for further information.
CBS MarketWatch Story Disney's EPCOT Center to add Spanish pavilion Madrid, Sep 25, 2002 (EFE via COMTEX) -- EPCOT Center, one of the four Walt Disney World amusement parks in Orlando, Florida, will open a Spanish pavilion. The project was presented in Madrid on Wednesday by officials from the Spanish Economy and Treasury Ministry and The Walt Disney Company Iberia. The new pavilion will "spread the image of the Spain of today in the United States, providing insight into its traditions, culture and products, and improving its position in the world," ministry officials said. It is a "good opportunity for Spanish companies and products to strengthen their presence in the United States, taking advantage of the exposure offered by EPCOT," they noted. EPCOT Center is divided into two sections - Future World, which deals with health, transportation and environmental issues; and World Showcase, which deals with the culture, food, entertainment and products of the 11 countries represented at the park. The countries include Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Norway, China, Japan, the United States, Canada, Mexico and Morocco. |

LOLOL - hey now PB, be nice to Portugal...
Along the same lines, does anyone know about the Africa section? They were supposedly building one, but I can't see any PR on it. They were definately constructing something back there in July. :dazed

I'm going to play devil's advocate and say "I'll believe it when I see it."
Spain's not a bad fit for EPCOT - but this could still go the way of Equatorial Africa, Russia and Switzerland. However, anything to spice up WS would be welcome. Norway happened quite a while ago now. Even additions to the existing pavillions would be appreciated, such as the long-ago proposed Mt. Fuji ride at Japan.
