Re: AP discount changes coming soon

I do not like the uncertainty with this. I have so many things that are up in the air now. If I don't get any kind of a discount, I may have to change me resort to a value. I already added an extra day and want to keep it. I am not interested in paying $149 a night for POFQ. I hope they don't let this go to long and give the official word. I may have some hard decisions to make.

Re: AP discount changes coming soon

I'm not convinced that they are ending AP rates altogether.

It seems to me that they're trying to encourage AP holders to book earlier as opposed to waiting for discount codes.

Matt, if you go to the Disney World web site and then log into the pasholder section, all this is under the special offers (or something like that) section. It is set up as of now.

I hope that is all it is. I can deal with that. I always book WAY in advance...usually right after coming home from another trip. It makes sense the way you put it. Maybe I'm just thinking to negatively. I can understand why they would want you in regardless and have the discount as a bonus instead of an incentive. However, I wonder how many people won't book because of this? I am crossing fingers and toes that something comes out. I seriously think they are making a mistake with the nonrefundable deposit. Things come up and it's a shame to lose money because of something you can't control. Hoping for the best over here....

Re: AP discount changes coming soon

I agree that this sounds bad but I did have another thought.

There are many places that offer "memberships" like APs. We have one to our local Zoo and the Children's Museum. We buy them because we know we will save money on the admission. One offers a discount in merchandise but that is it. It still saves money.

Perhaps Disney is migrating towards that kind of idea. I know many people get them because of the room discounts and that is the reason they can go more often that once a year. But, the idea of an Annual Pass does imply that you get in the gates as many times as you want in a year without paying each time.

Just a perspective. I know it still stinks but maybe its been too good for too long?

Re: AP discount changes coming soon

My AP more than paid for itself this time...I was looking forward to an October trip..but there is no way I could book 120 days in advance! Oh well..theres always next year...it they are going to make us book 120 days in advance they should tell us how much we are going to be paying.............the difference between 49 dollars at POP and 79 dollars at POP determines if I go to WDW or not..

Re: AP discount changes coming soon

The new booking program for passholders is for arrivals after 12/19/05 according to the passholder website. Maybe this means ealrier discounts may still happen. Boy I wish I would have looked at this website before, I could have saved 25% on my MVMCP tickets

Re: AP discount changes coming soon

Dang it, I just got my AP too! This definitely sounds like bad news. It stinks that you have to make reservations atleast 120 days in advance, thats 4 months!! My family usually plans disney trips spontaneously and we go within 2 months. Also, if we are going with alot of people we can only get the discount for one room! This is horrible! I pray that they don't change the Florida resident discount system. Atleast we can still book the deals whenever we want that way.
Gosh, first they got rid of the Disney Club, then the Disney Magazine, and now they messed up the AP discounts! Whats next??
Ok, sorry. Done with my rant now lol.

I agree...a nonrefundable deposit against and unknown rate is bad business no matter how you slice it.

Re: AP discount changes coming soon

I just don't see the 120 nonrefundable deposit making it long. Most of us can't afford to book that, too many things can change in 4 months. Oh, Well, I get one good discount out of my AP.

Re: AP discount changes coming soon

I think disney will have to make some big changes to this policy, or a lot of people won't be getting AP's. The tickets that they have out now are a great deal. And most people are buying the AP's in hopes of getting a discount. Four months in advance is a long time for people with AP's to plan ahead. The reason we have AP's is because we are going several times in a year. This is only going to hurt Disney in my opinion.

Re: AP discount changes coming soon

So far, DVC members are still getting $100.00 off annual passes. I plan to renew mine, but that is because resort discounts don't effect us. If it did, I think I'd be pretty upset at the changes. Using the AP twice a year is still quite a saving on admissions.

Mickey's info says it's for checkins starting Oct. 8. Which is correct? We check in Dec. 18.

Rooms must be booked at least 120 days in advance and, unlike our normal cancellation policy, a non-refundable deposit of 1-night's room charge and tax must be paid at the time of booking. Currently this program is only available for arrivals through 12/19/05. The number of rooms and nights available for this Program is limited and rooms are not available every night. This Program is subject to change or discontinuance at any time and without notice.

I cut and pasted it directly from Disney Worlds' web site. Hope that clear it up
