Pop Century Resort to open December 14, 2003

Travel agents can now book reservations for Disney's newest value-priced resort - Disney's Pop Century Resort. Opening Dec. 14, 2003, the 2,880-room, first phase of Disney's Pop Century Resort will send clients on a trip through American popular culture spanning the 20th Century.

The whimsical resort will feature two phases - the Legendary Years of the 1900s-1940s and the Classic Years of the 1950s-1990s.

Located near Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney's Pop Century Resort will include two 5,000-square-foot arcades; Disney's first integrated food, beverage and shopping area; eight courtyards; six pools in wildly-fun shapes; two playgrounds; and recreational paths for riding surrey bikes around Hourglass Lake.

After completion, Disney's Pop Century Resort will join Disney's All-Star Resorts in offering a combined total of more than 11,500 rooms in the value category, priced from $77-$109 per room, per night.

Mickey,
Is this one of the resorts that only accept 4 in a room?

We will be taking 6 the next time and are trying to figure out the best place to stay....

Thanks..
Lisa

Long as it doesn't mean other resorts are going down. :D

Last year I felt so sad cause I knew Pop Century was just sitting there. At least now I will feel like WDW is fully functioning again.

We're going on a big family trip in December 6-13 and I want to stay at WL but it looks like the value resorts might be the choice of the group and we'll have to go with the majority. With that said, I wonder what the chance of a soft opening of Pop Century would be. If we have to stay at a value resort, I'd love to be able to try it out! Plus, I know it would be clean! If only they could open one week earlier!!

I know, I plan on being there that weekend *before* it opens. Sure would be nice to try it out at its opening. But I'm pretty sure it will be the week before for us. Although I haven't made the reservations yet, so maybe things can change!:D It would be really neat to say you were one of the first people to stay there!!!

HAHA! Guess who's staying in the 1970s preferred building of Pop Century December 14-20. ME! ME! ME!
I called CRO as soon as I heard the news to cancel ASMo and make the move. She said they will definitely be opening Dec. 14, not one day sooner or later. I can't wait to be the first one in my brand new room!

That's awesome, Angey77! Congratulations! How often can you say you were the first one EVER to stay in a room at a resort? I am a 70's girl too, although I would much rather re-live the 80's...or would I?!? LOL

iluvwdw,
Yeah, I am so excited to have a fresh new bed, the first to step in the shower....after watching some of those TV specials on what the naked eye doesn't see in hotels , I'm extra stoked!
I'm all for the 70s building because my first trip ever at the ripe old age of 2 was in 1979. Gotta start somewhere! But you gotta love those 80s.
