E-Ride nights at Magic Kingdom announced for May, 2002

Walt Disney World has announced its scheduled E-Ride Nights for the month of May, 2002. Currently eight nights are scheduled, and came somewhat as a surprise announcement, considering that we have had at most three nights a month, and now we are given eight. I guess we are seeing WDW returning to normal operating behavior. The eight E-ride nights are:

May 6 (7 - 10 PM)
May 10 (9 - Midnight)
May 13 (7 - 10 PM)
May 17 (9 - Midnight)
May 20 (8 1 11 PM)
May 24 (9 - Midnight)
May 28 (8 - 11 PM)
May 31 (9 - Midnight)

E-Ride Nights are an exclusive "private party" in the Magic Kingdom for a limited number of Walt Disney World Resort, and include many of the e-tickets rides in the Magic Kingdom open for the limited party.

Yes, you have to pay additional. The cost is about $18 to $20, less for kids. Most of the e-ticket rides are open, as are some of the other rides. We went once, and were able to ride all of the rides three or four times. They limit the number of tickets sold, and are rarely sold out, unless it is during a busy time of year. I think it is worth it, you get MK almost to yourself, and no waits on the rides. If you go during a non-busy time of year, it may not be worth it though.

I'm curious. How can they announce E-ticket nights and hours prior to releasing park hours for May? Also, have they had E-ticket nights in July in the past, or are the parks open too late anyway for them to do that in the summer?

Actually, official park hours have been announced for May, they just haven't updated the official site yet. I would look for them tomorrow.

They have, in the past, had e-ride nights every month of the year, including summer months when parks close around 10 PM. I would assume that that trend will continue this summer.

Mondays & Fridays?

I noticed that with the exception of Memorial Day, all of the E-Ride nights were Mondays and Fridays... Is this typical?

I think it changes every month, depending upon dates, work schedules, and when they think they can get the most people. When we were there last spring, it was Tuesday and Thursday.

Which rides are open during these "e" nights. Where do you get the tickets and when can you buy them. Typically, how many people are in the park with you?

Typically, only Frontierland, Main Street and Tomorrowland are open. They usually open either Haunted Mansion or Pirates. You can purchase tickets at any guest services or resort, and the cost is about $18 for adults. There usually isn't a problem buying tickets, unless you are there during an abnormally busy time. I would assume that if you are worried, you could call up your resort and have them save some for you. You also must have access to the park, the price does not include access. You head to the guest services on Main Street, and they will give you a bracelet. At closing, you are allowed to stay in the park, while others are escorted out. They limit sales to 10,000 people per night, but usually fall short of that by a large margin. It was virtually empty our last time, but it was raining which could have contributed to the low turnout.

here is an email from Disney with info on E-Ticket nights...
[color=blue]
Thank you for contacting WALT DISNEY WORLD!

MAGIC KINGDOM E-RIDE Nights take place on selected dates and require separate
admission. It is a special opportunity for WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort guests to
experience the MAGIC KINGDOM Park when the crowds are smaller and the wait times
for the attractions are shorter. On those days, the park operates on the
announced schedule, then for three magical hours the park is only available to
WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort guests who have purchased the special ticket.

Tickets may only be purchased at WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort Guest Services Desks,
but are available to all guests staying at a WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort, including
the WALT DISNEY WORLD DOLPHIN, the WALT DISNEY WORLD SWAN and the DOWNTOWN
DISNEY Area Hotels. Guests staying at these hotels must purchase their tickets
at a WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort Guest Service Desk.

The guest must have a multi-day pass, Unlimited Magic Pass or Annual Pass which
they used at one of the ticketed parks that same day. These events are on a
first-come, first-serve basis.

The nine attractions scheduled to be open at this time are: "Big Thunder
Mountain", "Splash Mountain", "Space Mountain", "Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger
Spin", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Alien Encounter", "Astro Orbiter",
"TimeKeeper", and "Country Bear Jamboree".

The price of the ticket is:

Adult 10 and over $12.00 plus tax
Child ages 3 to 9 $10.00 plus tax

No discounts are available.

For current announced dates for E-Ride Nights, please check with your resort's
Guest Services desk upon check in.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if

An extra 3 hours...

But I guess that would change with the park's scheduled closing time.

I am sorry, I forgot to post this here earlier. Disney has cancelled all of the e-ride nights for May, 2002. You can see more information here.

Ok... Just got off the phone with Disney...

Scheduled BUT may Change
June 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25 and 28

The month of May did not have enough people to cover cost...
(or that is what I gathered)

I checked this a week ago before I book my stay through June 5th
Just to get June 4th.

The operater noted that May was 'getting fairly busy' and that if the level held up into June .... (long pause) the June nights would not be cancelled.... Best bets are on early June nights only but Who knows if there will be even one.

Please post any more info - you get - THANKS
