Disney now shutting down parts of Port Orleans Riverside (ie. Dixie Landings)

According to several sources, Disney is now closing down entire buildings in the Riverside section of Port Orleans. With the old Port Orleans, now French Quarter, closed over a month ago, the resort now is only opperating at half capacity.

My take is that it is easier to shut down several entire buildings if you know that you are only going to be 50% full for the next six months, rather than rotate guest amoung all the rooms. I would also assume that they are doing the same at other resorts, but we just aren't hearing about it.

It has been rumored that French Quarter will be re-opening, but only to accomodate guest who would normaly stay at Shades of Green, while it is being renovated.

hey mickey is this going to effect my trip in December? We are going to be staying at POR from Dec 26-Jan 3. Hopefully we are not going to be staying in one of the shut down buildings. Is it just for refurbishments?

I also read somewhere on here that WDW is going to open a 4th gate. I think they are calling it Beastly Kingdom. Can anyone confirm?

Well, I asked about that too during our lunch with an imagineer. Even though she mentioned that "Animal Kingdom was conceptualized to show beasts of all kinds." (Her using the word beast kinda triggered that question in my mind) So I asked her and all she replied was, "I know of no new development planned for Animal Kingdom." She then went into how huge of a project Everest was, and talked about the making of that.

When I was reading the original post, I was kinda lost...like FRENCH QUARTER IS CLOSED? RIVERSIDE IS CLOSING?? I felt like I didn't know what the heck was going on.

How do these threads from 5 years ago keep popping up??
