High Speed Internet coming to WDW resort rooms!

WDWIG is reporting the following news:

It has been a long time in coming, but High Speed Internet Access is being rolled out at the WDW Resorts, starting with Coronado Springs.

Price is $9.95 for 24-contiguous hours charged to the room account. You will need to supply your own laptop and cable! Technical support will be available via your in room phone.

Here is the estimated timetable for access:

Coronado Springs - Oct. 1, 2003
Yacht & Beach Club Resorts - Nov. 4, 2003
Contemporary Resort - Dec. 2, 2003
Grand Floridian - Dec. 2, 2003
BoardWalk (including DVC units) - Dec. 30, 2003
Saratoga Springs - Jan. 30, 2004
Villas at the Wilderness Lodge - Feb. 27, 2004
Old Key West - April 2, 2004

Wi-Fi: High Speed Wireless Internet Access is available to Guests staying at select Disney Resorts. Guests with Wi-Fi enabled laptop computers or PDA's will be able to access the Internet from the common areas of each resort. Smart City is the vendor providing this service and 24-hour technical support for those Guests who need it. Smart City will bill the Guest using a secure credit card transaction via the on-screen Internet connection.

Requirements: Requires a wireless interface card (WIC), available for purchase in the resort's business center.

Price: $4.99 for the first 60 minutes or $9.95 for 24 contiguous hours

Its too bad Caribbean Beach Resort isn't included.... we could post day-by-day blows of the Meet & Greet in February...

I am using WDW Dial up right now! It is slow and frustrating. It is a move in a positive direction. I would be curious as to how they picked the resorts. Maybe because all these resorts also have meeting rooms/conference centers.

We returned from a week at the Contemporary two weeks ago and used the 802.11 wireless access from our tower room. Strong signal, medium fast connection.
I frequent a web site, that if you mistype the url, you get a porn site. It caught the page before it displayed anything with an warning ( need further authorizing(sp)..), good work on this feature!!
I wish our isp had this.
It did cost $9.xx for 24 hrs, so we used it every other day to upload our pictures and check mail.

I always carry my laptop, every where. At WDW I have kept it locked in the car. I have buried it in a suitcase. And I was daring once and left it out. It has survived every trip.

Not only late ,but expensive most hotels I have been staying at are providing it free ,but in disney's case It is a price i probably will pay

WIFI access in the GF works from Sugarloaf Concierge (facing the pool)... This is awesome, and a great way to upload pictures to our website as we go...

Sitting here on my balcony, surfing the web... ($9.95/24 hours)

I would love to bring my laptop to DW and be able to post pictures and video to my website. We are staying at the Pop Century, looks like there is no Wi-Fi access there? Are there the any common areas at that resort?
