I loved Shrek 2 and so did the rest of my family!!!! However, I loved Emperers New Groove and LOVEHUUVED FINDING NEMO!!!!! So again, to reiterrate what the others said Different not necessarily better!!!

Stitch touched me much more than Shrek. I cried a bit for Stitch (and also watched it about a billion times, and no, I don't have kids). I can quote passages from Stitch, and my husband and I are sometimes... troubled - we need dessert!

Wow! You mean dgf and I weren't the only ones in the world who didn't appreciate the first Shrek? I was beginning to think we were alone in that respect. We wanted to like it - and with so many "in-joke" references to Disney, we thought it would be great. But other than great to look at, it just didn't make me laugh at all - not my type of humor. I was reminded of this while waiting in line for the Shrek attraction at Universal. Not one smile on my face during the whole thing. More like, 'get me out of here!'.

That said, we like a couple of the people providing voices in the new movie, so we will most likely see it in the theater - no great rush for us. But I truly would hesitate to think that it could possibly be any better than the ouvre posted above. Disney is overall about family values and entertainment. There are a couple of 'good ones' in those "failures" you mentioned above. At least to me.

Besides, I've been watching box office figures with great interest for most of my life -- and academy award winners -- and I my opinion is that they don't mean anything. It doesn't necessarily mean the movie is good or better than any other movie just because it made more money than the other or won more awards. People go to movies in tides. When they feel moved by something to go see, they go see it. If it strikes a chord with them, it becomes popular... But for how long?, is the key.

The best movies are not necessarily the ones that make the most, but the ones that endure with us throughout our lives. I'm sure the Shrek characters will find their place with those who love them. I'd rather follow the Disney ones.

Besides, if we go by these statistics, how about Dreamworks' track record against Disney over the past 10 years? No contest there, whether the Disney films were turkeys or not.

See what I mean??? I have not seen the trialer and have not even seen a --er-- stitch -- of Shrek 2 -- and just reading THIS is proof enough to me that it would not make me laugh. That's not even funny! Not even the Pinocchio joke I read about in the paper. It's just not what I find funny, unfortunately.

The reason for the stabs at Disney, DH6, is pretty obvious - One of the key members of the Dreamworks team - Jeffrey Katzenberg. Talk about being bitter! But, at least be FUNNY!

I never saw the preview with Ariel. That really ticks me off, and I'm quite regretting giving my money to Dreamworks after that! That kind of "humor" is so immature.

i love all of these movies, well i haven't seen "home on the range" yet, and i love "shrek 2." i would have to say that "finding nemo" is better than "shrek 2": it's funnier, not too many adult jokes incorporated in the movie to fly over the kids' heads, and it has a nice moral to the story. "shrek 2" has quite a few adult jokes in the movie that would puzzle kids and they might not enjoy the movie as much. that's the one thing i don't like when it comes to animated movies: if there are one too many adult jokes in an animated movie, then kids shouldn't be watching it. it's not that they're going to be corupted from the movie; it's that they won't enjoy the movie as much because of their lack of understanding the jokes.

Shrek 2 looks like something you'd only watch over having to eat a candy bar from the 50's!!!
I'd take Dinosaur over Shrek 2 anyday.
Besides, the majority of the latest Disney films were great.

Shrek 2 was a great movie. I had to think twice about the kids watching both Shreks. Lots of inuendos. Very funny for adults. My kids did end up loving both movies, and didn't get the adult jokes.

But, as far as SHrek 2 being BETTER than Mulan!? Better than Lilo and Stitch? No way!

IT definitely wasn't better than Emporer's New Groove or Hercules! I love all those movies.

Dana, I think, said it first - you can NOT compare these Shrek to Disney movies! They are SO different!

I have to say yes as much as it kills me, but Shrek 2 was everything those non-pixar movies weren't.

I took the kids to see Shrek 3 this past weekend and LOVED it (I know it hasn't got many good reviews...) I thought it was the best one yet.

We saw Shrek the Third the other day. The kids enjoyed the movie but they all agreed that it just wasn't as good as the first two.

I saw all of those movies and I have to say that Shrek 2 was better (ouch, it hurts to say that ). And that's unfortunate because I really liked Hercules and Lilo & Stitch.

My kids just saw Shrek 3 and they really liked it, too.
