DH and I use them to stay in touch when we go off to do separate things. (Especially this last trip when I wasn't able to do any coasters etc.) This way we could easily find one another without me having to wait at the ride exit for 40 mins etc.

We leave ours in the hotel room and switched off!!. As it is on a UK tarriff we get charged for receiving calls as well as making them. Do anybody know where we could get a pay-as-you-go sim for our phones so we can keep in contact with our friends who are joining us in december? (they're quad band phones so thats not a problem)

No! Well it comes WITH us--and then we leave it in the room...for two reasons
1. It's just Dave and I, and we barley ever seperate at home let alone at Disney so the chances of one of us "getting lost" is totally unlikely...
2. It's vacation! Who needs the phone!

But it does sleep in the safe while we're at the parks--if we didnt call our mommas when we got there they'd have a heart attack--plus disney hotel phone service is expensive!
Funny Story, last trip we actually forgot the cell at home...during the ride to and from fla i was a littler nervous about not having it--but--it was rather realxing during the actual vacation!

We took our phones on the last trip so we could call home cheaper, but we ended up using them in the parks when certain individuals in our party never turned thier walkie talkies on when we were seperated!

My DBrother used his cell phone during the trip to tease our DSister who was unable to get away from work and join us on vacation, by calling her as we were riding SM. I think the conversation went like this....DBrother-"Hey Jess! Guess where I am!"....DSister- "Click"!!

I don't think she took his calls the rest of the week!

I am the only one so far who has said no. We are from Canada, so we leave our resort # with my mum and take our Bell Canada calling card with us to give her a call from the hotel when we get there. Disney charges us $0.75 per call. Anything that happens at home while we're gone just has to wait until we get back.

I brought mine last trip...first year I had one. I used it to let my parents know we got there safely and to let my DD call them at random. I also used it to keep track of my DBF and his DS while we seperated at the resort/parks. I will bring it again in October to keep in touch with home and DBF who will not be coming this trip. It's better than paying an arm and a leg to use the phones in the room.

We use it to keep track of us, esp. when we split up. My mom was calling me at MK wondering when we were getting to MGM to meet them to get our seats at Fantasmic in Oct. They were saving seats for us. Do you know how long a trek that is? She called us 3 times before we got there!!!

We bring ours. My DH has to work, even at WDW!!!! (btw, I HATE that, but it's pays the way to WDW in the first place) I have mine on me if my kids are not with us, and it is real good to have if we are meeting up with someone.

Mine goes everywhere. My good friends daughter (13) who is like my adopted niece calls all the time to see what I am doing. I also like to keep in touch with home when I am away.

Oh Yeah, I forgot the DH has to have his with him. Military man that he is has to be reachable in case of real world threat conditions.
