Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?

I've got to say for AK.

Interestingly enough the other night a new ABC show "My Kind of Town" gave a family a free vacation to "Disney's Animal Kingdom." That's it. No other park or resort was mentioned. Obviously Disney is trying to promote it's least visited park.

Uh - thanks for putting it in "terms we'll understand" You don't seem to have a very high opinion of us, do you?

I voted for AK - signature or not, I can't wait to try it!

Hopefully it will spread out the "thrill" ride crowds around the world more.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?

Hi everyone....4th post!

Very interesting statistics Soundgod. Where do you get your info. I like to look at the way rides are designed, the linear and angular forces that riders are subjected to, the various ways that rides are accelerated, and such. I think it is really interesting the way that Disney builds rides. Don't you? Untrained riders, or unaccustomed riders, can only withstand forces of 5 or so Gs for only a sort time (it seems like 4-6 seconds, but its been a while since I looked at human physiological responses to rapid accelerations and multiple G forces). I think it would be criminal to subject riders that are only 42" tall (a pretty average 5-6 year old) to forces much greater than this, since this kind of acceleration forces the blood out of the brain toward the feet, unless of course you are inverted, which forces the blood toward your head, or if the Gs happen to be negative, in which case the blood is still forced toward your head, or your feet if you are inverted. This makes the rider feel light-headed or they may even pass out. I think it is interesting that even on thrill rides Disney is still looking out for the well-being of their youngest patrons. And, although this Disney Central poll was specific to Disney World, I would agree that other parks in the area would have more extreme rides.

Where do you find out these details about the rides?

Oh, by the way, this is an interesting poll question, but the truth about the signature ride(s) at Disney World is obvious. The answer has been true since the early days of the park. You all know what the signature ride(s) at WDW is. Come on the signature rides are the ones everyone remembers.............these will never be replaced................come on. Right!!! Space Mountain and It's A Small World! These rides are almost as iconic as the castle.

EE will be 50 mph? With no rolls or nothing? Psh. I can get a bigger rush driving my car.

Still gonna ride it though...

But Kraken is excellent. As is Dueling Dragons.

Kraken is awesome! BUT Disney gives us the experience. I mean, I've been on much better roller coasters than RnR, but it's the whole "show" that goes with the ride that makes it an "attraction."

Who said it was going to be any "bigger" than Rock n' Roller Coaster?

I think most of us understand that (A) this ride doesn't go upside down (B) it tops out at 50 miles per hour and most importantly (C) it's a Disney ride.

Somehow, between those qualifications, I think we figured out that it wasn't going to be anything like "Kraken" or "Dueling Dragons".

I appreciate the fact that you share your knowledge with us, but I just wish you wouldn't sound so rude about it.

Welcome smithfamily... I feel that Disney is mostly for Kids, big and little..... even though I am 50 years old... WDW is my very favorite place in this world.... and I go with out children attached.... I voted that it would be for Animal Kingdom... I think it will be a great help for the AK park... I still remember when MGM was a 1/2 day park at best.... now look at it... I think AK will grow the same way.... with a little time.....

I know this won't be popular, but I don't think Soundgod was trying to be rude, just informational.
I do agree, like Cavey, that Kraken is awesome but like he says also...the "show" just isn't there.
The only place that I've seen rides with less theme is at DCA...sorry guys...I'm still a bit disappointed in many of the Paradise Pier attractions. I know it's supposed to look like a boardwalk kind of thing.....but they fell short of what I think Mr. Disney would have thought acceptable. Remember he wanted a place that was fun for the whole family, clean and well built. Some of the rides at Paradise Pier look like they could be taken down in a matter of hours and moved to Knott's Berry Farm!
Okay.....let me have it:)

I agree. I didn't see anything rude about his post. But I just decided to keep myself quiet.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?

I didn't see anything rude in Soundgod's post.

And I absolutely love Kraken! But I enjoy that Disney makes "experiences" and not thrill rides.

That being said, there was once a thread on DC where I advocated WDW adding a 5th park geared for teens. Fill it full of coasters and big thrills. Iit would siphon off "cool" teenagers from the other parks.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?

I voted for AK. WHile I think it will add something to AK, I don't see it becoming a signature for all of WDW. I too agree with Cavey, I am a thrill ride junkie as is my whole family, but Disney is and alwyas wil be our favorite plave to vacation. The rides are not major thrill rides, but the theme is wonderful. Where else can the whole family go and be kids together and just have fun for days at a time.
