Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?

I voted for AK only. I don't think it will become the signature ride of WDW. If fact, I doubt that any of the thrill rides fun as they are will be. I believe that the signature rides of WDW are already there: Dumbo, Mad Tea Party, It's a Small World. Rides that are symbolic of Disney parks all around the world

Soundgod's post was truly informational, but I consider it rude to type a sentence IN ALL CAPS AS IF YOU ARE YELLING!

Just MHO. Hate me if you will.

To say "in terms you'll all understand" is also unthoughtful.

His post came across as impatient and condescending to me. He has chosen to use the ALL CAPS tactic in more than one post now. I simply think there are more tactful ways to put things, that's all.

And Peppertink...having worked at DCA (on Paradise Pier) I don't take any offense to your opinion at all. In fact, I agree. I don't feel that the theme - or the attractions - of Paradise Pier are up to Walt Disney's standards. They are not much more than amusement park rides, which is what Walt attempted to stray from. The "boardwalk" thing fits the California theme, but I think it was the only excuse they could come up with to fit in a large roller coaster.

*Sigh!* What can you do, though? That's where Disney put me, so I had to learn to love it.

No one would ever hate you! I don't like it when someone is condesending either.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?

WDW will probably never be thought of as a "Coaster Park". RR, SM and BTR are cool in their own rights but coaster freaks will never flock to these for the big thrill. Any amusement park can spend millions on a new coaster but none can touch WDW as the ultimate theme park destination. EE will add to the fun and will be by far one of the best themed coasters in the world. That's just Disney's way. Disney has synergy. The others just have rides.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?

I think EE possesses the potential to transcend and become the signature ride of AK. But not at WDW. I have a plethora of good memories, the glow of which warms my heart, that EE will have to surpass in order to achieve the distinction of WDW's signature ride.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?

Hmmm. Good question. The word "signature" is so strong. To me, a "signature" attraction has to have a touch of nostalgia. I would call things like Pirates of the Caribbean & It's a Small World "signature." But MAN, I am SOOOO excited for EE to open!!! I haven't been this excited for an attraction since Splash Mountain's debut.

All they have to tell me is that the Indiana Jones attraction from DL is coming to WDW and I'll flip. haha. LOVE THAT RIDE TOO!!! (ps, on our last trip we heard some banter at MGM that it was going to replace the IJ stuntshow?" HMMM, if that is true, i would be ESTATIC!!!

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?

"So, in terms you'll all understand, The Yeti isn't the biggest, baddest monster in Orlando. That honor goes to Kraken at Sea World, followed by the Dueling Dragons(reportedly a ride passed on by Disney)."

I have to agree with you Dznygirl & Pumouse...
No offense soundgod but I think most of us here are intelligent enough to understand the terms you posted without clarification. I might add that I personally don't care if it is the "biggest and baddest monster in Orlando" Actually I prefer it not to be, IMHO I think Dueling Dragons is tacky and Kracken is blah. I THINK most people excited for EE, like most true Disney fans, are excited for the WHOLE package; especially the theming, exciting new merch, expansion of AK, and just the anticipation of a new attraction.
