Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?
Hmmmmm....had to vote 'Absolutely.'
At least for the moment when it opens, I think EE is going to erase all the competition in WDW! It's got so much going for it. The thrill factor, new experiences (going backwards!), sheer size. ![]() I don't think it will stay that way forever. But when it opens, EE is definitely going to reign supreme for a while. Then it will probably resort to 'of Animal Kingdom' status after something bigger & better opens, whenever that may be. ![]()

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?
With so many rides opening for the Happiest Celebration on Earth, it is really hard to choose which one will be a sig ride, but with this ride being so hugemongous
I think it will be associated with AK.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?
Promises to be a great ride, and a very welcome attraction for AK which is sort of lacking ride wise, but signature?
It will be a fast passer to be sure! I'm hoping for AP/DVC soft openning that I can sneak into.

A big help for AK. Maybe spread out some of Test Track, MS and SM crowds.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?
I voted only for AK. I'm sure it'll be a great ride... but I can't see it as the signature ride. *shrug* That's just me though.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?
I think it will be a great addition (and needed one) to AK but I don't think it will be enough to draw people in to Ak to get attendance up. Glad to have it and hope to ride it but not going to be in their top 3 rides.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?
I voted for AK.
It looks like fun and I'll ride it if the opportunity ever presents itself. But I also think that when it opens will be some GREAT mornings to head for the safari!

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?
Just for AK...I can see it on the guide map and commercials for AK ...but not Disney's only or main reason to come to wdw. It will be popular...but not the best...I think.

Of Animal Kingdom. I still think the signature Disney ride is Splash Mountain.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?
I'm thinking it will be the popular one to do for some time beacuse of it's newness, but I can't see it being "the" signature ride for all of WDW. I think each park has it's own signature ride and that varies by who you talk to.

Not for all of WDW but for Animal Kingdom.

Re: Will Expedition Everest become the signature ride at WDW?
Hey gang, this ride IS NOT GOING TO BE AS BIG AS IT LOOKS! The building may be just short of 200 feet, but the ride itself is not going to be any bigger than Rock n Rollercoaster.
What follows is the listing from Roller Coaster Database: Amusement Park: Walt Disney World - Animal Kingdom Type: Steel - Sit Down Status: Under Construction opening 2006 Make / Model: Vekoma / Custom Other Cost: $100,000,000 USD Height: 112' Drop: 80' Inversions: 0 Speed: 50 mph Trains: Riders must be 42" or taller to ride. History: This will become the largest ride in Walt Disney World at a cost of $100 million (USD). The ride will travel both forwards and backwards. The height of the attraction is said to be nearly 200 feet. This is probably referring to the height of the mountain and not the height of the track contained within. The Expedition Everest will be the first ride to use Vekoma's newest track system. Rather than the rails be on the inside of the ties, they will be on the outside. To date Vekoma has only used this system on their smaller roller coasters. This will be the first large scale installation of such a system. Amusement Park: Walt Disney World - Disney-MGM Studios Type: Steel - Sit Down Status: Operating since 7/29/1999 Make / Model: Vekoma / LSM Coaster (Disney) Categories: Enclosed, LSM Lift / Launch System: LSM Launch Track Capacity: 1800 riders per hour Length: 3403' Height: 80' Inversions: 3 Speed: 57 mph Duration: 1:22 G-Force: 5 Max Acceleration: 0 − 57 mph in 2.8 seconds Elements: Roll Over, Corkscrew So, in terms you'll all understand, The Yeti isn't the biggest, baddest monster in Orlando. That honor goes to Kraken at Sea World, followed by the Dueling Dragons(reportedly a ride passed on by Disney).
