When using the Disney Dining plan at Table Service meals, Disney has built in gratuity. Do you tip extra?

if it was exceptional I would . if the server did something out of normal service. now DH is another story he always overtips especially if the server is aorund our kids ages.

If the service warrants it, yes, even though it's included. I normally tip 20% everywhere else anyway so I think I'm a pretty good tipper already.

It depends on the service and the situation. If I get adult beverages with my meal, I tip on that bill because it's seperate from the meal or was when I went in october. I have also tipped for exceptional service...a few extra dollars, but that only happened once last trip.

We tipped extra last year at the Coral Reef and Akershus. Both times our waiters were personable, attentive and great with our table. They made our dinners extra special.
Oh wait, we tipped extra at Royal Table lunch. Our waitress there was awesome too!

We've run into wait staff didn't seem to care much, maybe they knew they were already getting the 18% so why bother - that happened at Mama Melrose.

I do find myself leaving an "extra" tip most of the time. Don't really have an explanation for it, I guess cause one of my friends used to be a server at the Biergarten and I heard stories how he'd get the shaft too often. I also swore that one of my friends who worked at an EPCOT restuarant since the DDP has existed that they STILL get the shaft somehow. Oh well, I tip extra, what the hey hey.

When my wife and I went in December of 2005,we didn't know that the tip was included,so we were tipping like crazy. Finally the last night there,a server @ Yachtman's Steakhouse told us.We tried leaving a tip for him,and he said "Oh,you don't need to tip,its included in your dining plan." After telling him we had been tipping all week,he replied "man, I bet you had some happy servers after you left."

We brought our tip up to 20% to the servers went beyond the "usual" service. I also noticed that our drink bill was separate and not included in the DDP, but the 18% was also added.

we have given severs or CMs an extra tip - some people just go out of their way and I feel (not just in WDW but everywhere) - that if someone goes out of their way to show you extra special service they should get rewarded.

I'd love to use the DDP, but they don't allow it when I'm using my airline discount for the hotel rate . I don't see why not, since I wouldn't expect a discount on the DDP itself.

It definately depends on the service. As a waitress myself, I know that 18% is a decent tip, however, if I feel the server goes above the basics, I will tip extra, especially if we are a large party.

I know the tip is built in with DDP. But when the server does a good job, we leave a little extra, even more for outstanding service.

I think many of the servers are with the College Program. We know what's it's like to be young and struggling. That was us 20 years ago. A few extra bucks here and there will always help.
