Which One?

The moderate resorts at WDW are the middle ground of the resorts available to guests. Not as expensive as the deluxe resorts, yet feature some of the same amenities. So, which one do you prefer?

I have stayed at Port Orleans, DXL (now PO) and Coronado Springs. My preference when I call for ressies is always PO (the original french or New Orleans) Unfortunately, it must be the most popular because the last 4 times I have gone, PO was not available on our vacation dates.

We like PO because it is small. The distance from your room to the food court, lobby, bus stop etc. is shorter than any of the others. Everything is right there. With both the PO now, you have the added bonus of the "water taxi" ride to the Downtown area.

Coronado Springs is a pretty resort, but like the Carribean Beach it is very large and spread out. Also, CS was built as a convention hotel, and many amenities there pertain to the business populus. One of my "beefs" of CS is the food court, although the food is excellent, at this food court, you are charged a 10% fee for everything you purchase there. Supposidly, this fee is like an automatic gratuity for service. But------this is charge any time you enter. If you go in to purchase a cup of coffee to go, (self service) you still are charged that 10% gratuity. If you go in to get sandwhiches to go, you walk around and choose what you want, put it in the bag and pay on the way out. Again that 10% fee is automatic. I just feel that this is unfair. I am more than willing to tip for service; in fact i usually am a big tipper, but for "no service" ----uh uh.

My vote is for PO french quarter. :) Smallworld

Hands Down....Port Orleans Riverside

This resort is so comfortable, so lovely, and offers more privacy than any of the resorts I have visited. The bus service is efficient, and the boat to Downtown Disney is a true highlight.

Re: Which One?

I love CBR the best. I sometimes don't understand why people like POR more. The rooms are much smaller than CBR. It could be that CBR was our first WDW resort. I think that makes a big difference. If it wasn't for DVC, I would always stay at CBR.

We try to get in Aruba building 52-54. Its right near the bridge but far enough away to be quiet. Jamica is another good building.

Re: Which One?

I picked the POFQ. That's the moderate I picked for my trip too and it's for the same reasons. Smallish. I like to let my DD go to the arcade by herself if she wants to and when I am at a huge resort this is not an option. The smaller and closer things are together the better are my thoughts. Next trip she will be a bit older and I can start going to bigger ones I think.

I love both POR and CSR, but I had to go with CSR for the pool. :)

Re: Which One?

I've always been a big CSR fan. It's one of my very favorite resorts in all of WDW!! Nothing beats the hammocks for relaxation, and they have the best margaritas in all of WDW. The biggest hot tub, one of the best pools, boating, gorgeous walking paths, it's all there!

Re: Which One?

POR has been the one for us.

Matter of fact we have "almost" stayed there the past 4 years, but have been able to swing a deluxe with some deals and luck.

Re: Which One?

We love the Poly, but have also loved staying in the POR in Aligator Bayou twice. It is very true that the grounds offer a lot of privacy and people are spread out so the noise levels are low, a welcomed relief for the park crowds. I would stay there again without hesitation even though there may be some other moderate resorts that are good. I personally wouldn't take the chance. Been there, done that, going back.
