Congratulation to MerlinMatt on his win. Everyone had such creative solutions to the task...pats on the back all around!
This next task can be approached a couple of different ways. Give it some noodle time about what theme of the attraction is. I have added a few links that even if you know the ride you might want to refresh yourself with. Think outside the box...or in this case outside the reel. Now on to Task 4 and the MGM/Disney Studio... Disney Central Apprentice Task 4: Quote:
If you have any comments of questions please post them here at the DC Apprentice Discussions referencing the task number and/or poster. Good Luck! (If you have not already familiarized yourself with how DCA is played please see this link (http://www.disneycentral.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=11924). Share your best and most creative ideas. And most of all remember to have fun!) Re: Disney Central Apprentice Task 4
I really want to play too, but I'm just as stuck as you guys, anaheimboy15 & disneyguy. I thought I had an idea, but it's a bit too similar to seattleredbear's... and I was so proud of myself for about 2 minutes there...

Re: Disney Central Apprentice Task 4
Sorry everyone I thought this one was a little bit easier then the last few.
Well you have about one day and at this point we have one solution. Which means that you can post a solution and place. (just so you know I always come up with at least three different solutions for each task before I post them...) |

Re: Disney Central Apprentice Task 4
I'm not feeling confident with this one, but here goes....
First the name: The Great Movie Ride : The History of Movies. One of the most obvious advances in movies is how real things tend to look, even the impossible. Think of the helicopter scene in Mission:Impossible or watching the Hulk emerge from a normal man. The ride would be a ride through the history of movies, showing how the original movies were based on exaggerated movements and expressions in order to account for lack of sound and special effects. The ride would use "floating theatre" vehicles that would be smaller than the ones used today. Perhaps each would seat 24 people: 4 rows and 6 people across. Everyone would get their own "movie-style" seat. It would begin similarly to Ellen's Adventure where all the theatre cars were joined together inside what would feel like an old style movie theatre with ornate decorations and a huge red velvet curtain. It would be a 6-7 minute presentation on the history of movie-making and the various improvement that have been made. But what if you could experience those old movies again using today's technology? The theatre would then break up into the individual floating theatres. The ride would be a series of "stops" in various movie theatres as we take an excursion of movies from the 20's right through the first decade of the 21st Century. In each theatre, the riders would be shown clips of movies from that particular era and they would be enhanced with possibly color, or aroma effects, weather effects, etc. There would be lots of surprises. The first theatre would perhaps show a 30 second clip from a Charlie Chaplin movie and 30 seconds from King Kong. And then some shorter clips from various popular movies from the 30s and 40s. The next theatre would show the evolution of lighting effects, the development of color and then the first major production sci-fi/adventure film - Star Wars. In the next theatre, things would begin to get exciting. As the special effects of the movies themselves begin to improve, the ride begins to be more of an experience where an earthquake might shake the floor or a space ship launch might be felt as the floating theatre lurches forward, with effects enhanced by an Omni-type screen. The end of the ride would be breathtaking as the floating theatres come back together and as the last one joins the rest, suddenly the floor all around the theatre drops and the screen becomes a 270 degree 50-foot high screen where the seats seem to be suspended right in the middle with action going all around. The "movie-goers" would be subjected to an experience not dis-similar from Philharmagic or "It's a bugs life" where the theatre nearly comes to life. The premise of the ride is to leave people wondering where the future of movies will take them.

Re: Disney Central Apprentice Task 4
Okay, I keep promising to play, and then I never do! But here I am, and I'm really gonna give it a go this time!!!
![]() My absolute favorite part of The Great Movie Ride is when the CMs are actively involved, like the gangster part for example. But I always find that other parts (particularly scenes from truly wonderful movies like The Wizard of Oz and Singin' In The Rain) are completely lacking. There's no feeling of magic or excitement like you really get from watching the movies. My idea is to change The Great Movie Ride into "The Great Movie Adventure." Instead of being a lackluster, 2-D ride, it will become a full Disney-esque theatrical production. Guests will ride in a similar style vehicle, but at a slightly faster pace and with no CM "tour guide." Instead of listening to an ongoing spiel (with the occasional burst of theater from the CM) guests will travel through all of the movies originally featured in The Great Movie Ride, completely brought to life by costumed CMs, an ever-changing musical soundtrack and exciting interaction. It will be an almost Carousel-of-Progress-esque progression from one scene to the next, but all flowing together in a well-choreographed style. The "movies" will essentially occur around the guests in 3-D, bursting with life and energy and excitement. **All of the movies currently featured will remain the same, except for the final scene which will change periodically to reflect the most recent Disney theatrical release.** As a theater geek, I absolutely adore role playing, and this will be like a chance for guests to feel like they are playing a role in their favorite movies. CMs portraying famous figures (such as Judy Garland, Cary Grant, etc.) will be so attuned to their characters, guests will feel like they're actually communing with the stars of classic (and modern-day) theater! ![]() Of course, because this will be such a large production, the "adventure" will depart at forty-minute intervals, in order to give the performers a chance to breathe. The vehicle will also be altered to hold a much larger number of guests. And that's all folks! Hehe. ![]()
