The DC Apprentice Task 4
Here it is task 4.
Disney is always trying to create new Magical experiences for people. What we need from our apprentices is a detailed description of a theme for a new WDW Park, Resort or combination that is different then what is currently available. Dream Big! (This is part one of a two part task, part two will be unveiled after we have a couple of responses or Wed night. Which ever comes first. Both task will close next Friday).

OK here is my Idea.
Disney has many places that look into the Future. Epcot is basically what the future is supposed to be. They have Tommorrowland in MK. Even MGM has a Star Wars area that might be considered "futuristic". Lately I have noticed that everyone is loving looking at the Past. When you think about it: Is there really any large areas of Disney that remember the past? The only one that I could think of is The Great Movie Ride inside MGM. This new park would be called Disney's Timekeeper Park. The basic theming would include rides and theming that represent the past decades. The decades would be very similar to PC, and would include the 90's, 80's, 70's, 60's, and 50's. Since all of the other parks contain some ind of large landmar in the center of course I had to include one in my park. It would basically would be a giant globe that played video clips from each decade. When you are walking towards the globe from say the 90's would see video clips that would represent that decade. The video clips would be of movies, spots, news events, highlights, etc from each decade. Also, in order to give off the feeling of going back into time the entire park would be surrounded by water. This would also link to the new resorts that would be built around the park, as well as to PC, and possible connecting into some of the other waterways inside WDW, depending on the location. This park however, would be VERY different from the traditional Disney park. I think that the one thing that Disney lacks the most is roller coasters and other thrill rides. I know, a lot of you will probably say, "That isn't Disney" and to that I have one word: Change. This is a period of time where Disney needs major change. If something is not done to invest in current technology Universal might become the next Disney. Also, I have seen comments on DC that these new thrill rides are bringing the wrong croud to WDW. I think this would help to seperate out these people. The following is descriptions of each area: The 90's: The 90's would be located to your right as you enter the park. The obvious theme here would be technology. The entire place would be decked out in those huge clunky computers, CD players, and VCR's (What are those?? lol). This would be one of the locations that would include a roller coaster. This roller coaster would be THE coaster for all of Disney. I am terrible with naming things, so if I need to refer to this coaster later it will be called the 90's Major Headliner. This coaster would be a combination of all the coasters inside of my second favorite park Busch Gardens: Williamsburg (These include: The Big Bad Wolf, Apollo's Chariot, The Lockness Monster, and Avalance!). This is a link to see what these coasters are like: http://www.buschgardens.com/buschgar...ions_home.aspx . It would be the first outside coaster in WDW. In order to make this park still seem WDW it of course would include education on things that went on inventions during the time. Another ride might include a motion simulator. The 80's: The major theme here would be TV Shows. I was really struggling to come up with rides for this. I don't want this to be a all roller coaster park, just a thrill park. It would have to include some of my favorite shows for the 80's, such as M*A*S*H and Magnum PI. It is very hard to say what could go here. This area would also include an area dedicated to The Challenger accident. This would however not be a major part of the area, so that kids can be educated at their parents discretion. The 70's: The major theme here is music. Why not?? Everyone thinks they know Disco, so why not show them! This area would include an indoor roller coaster, very similar to RNR. It could not be a copy (where you start very fast) since they are in the same park, but the main theme would be following someone through a 70's Disco Club. This may sound like it is not suitable for all, but it would definetly would be since this is WDW. Another idea here would be to have a 70's Haunted House where all the ghost act like they are still in the 70's. The 60's: The theme here would include the theme that is currently in place at PC. Mainly dealing with flower power, and hippies. This area would not include much about World Events, since it was mainly dominated by The Vietnam War, and do not want to upset any younger children or bring back any kind of bad memories. This area would definetly include some kind of water flume ride (Maybe something simply called: Flower Power!). It would just go back through the 60's with many large drops (larger than Splash Mountain). The 50's: OK the area on the far left side of the park would be dedicated to Sports. How could you not include information on greats like: Jackie Robinson, Arnold Palmer, and Bob Mathias??? This area would include the third and final coaster of the park. This would be a combination of indoor and outdoor coasters. Look through Sports in the 50's while you zoom past them. It's the perfect history lesson for teens. lol. Other General Info for the Park: The CM's: Each CM would dress in the attire from their decade. If they were in the 50's they might be dressed as a typical person or maybe an athlete, or if they were in the 90's maybe they would be dressed like Bill Gates. The Characters: Each area would include characters that are dressed in the attire that they would of worn during each decade. Can you imagine Mickey and Minnie as hippes??? The Non-Headliner Attractions: In order to fill in the gaps around the park; each area would include rides that were either introduced during that decade, or were popular during each decade. The Parade: Or should I say lack there of a parade. Yes, that is right this would be the first park that would not have a parade, however to make up for this there would be more street entertainment. The Evening Show: This would basically be LOTS of fireworks that would include a special laser show, with lots of different types of music, and video clips being played on the globe. The theme for this is Disney Through The Years, and this is also the name of the show. The Food: Food is my favorite part of WDW. I love being able to try out many different types of food, but at this park it is strictly American!! Each decade would have a minimum of 2 sit-down resturaunts, and 3 non sit-down resturaunts. I know this is a lot of food, but I want people to be able to eat happily and not have to wait through a huge line. There is always a couple of dishes that have "gone out of style". I know there are not many of these so that is hard to do, but this is Disney we take the time to do incredible things! Transportation Around The Park: Remember the not so well liked TTA(Tomorrowland Transportation Authority) over at MK?? That is the basis for the transportation system here. It would be called "The Time Portal". I choosed this as the mode of transportation, because it is very quick and is very efficent. It would also allow for views of the entire park. Also, a little more about theming. I absoloutly LOVE the different sayings that adorn each building at PC (It is my favorite part of the theming at PC). Each decade would have a set of sayings that the would be posted all over, and the CM's would be required to say as much as possible. The entire park would just be a very colorful place. The entry/exit area would be known as The Current and would be very plain, in order to make the differences very clear between the decades. Like I said, the entire park would be surounded by water to provide a dfferent mode of transportation to get to this park. I think that people are fed up with busses. Why not create a new mode of transportation inside WDW. DTD could be like the TTC for these boats, and at the same time would bring more business into DTD. Just another idea I wanted to throw out there. OK now onto the Resort!!!: The Disney's Timekeeper Resort Area: Pop Century: OK this is already here so why not include it in there. However if my idea were implemented there would be a few minor changes in the current Pop Century Project. It would call for a HALT! on building The Legendary Years section. Since the outer shell of this resort is already up these rooms would be chnaged. The wall between the two rooms would be taken out and this resort would become either a DVC resort or Deluxe Resort, since the rooms would be twice the size of a Value room. The other change to Pop Century would be a resturaunt!!! I cannot understand why they would cut out a sit down resturaunt from the ammenities?????!!!!! This resturaunt would however be fairly small in size and would not accept PS's except for 1 day in advance, however people that were going to be staying in the resort would be allow to book the resturaunt up to 90 days before their stay. The Timekeeper Resort: This would be a Moderate resort. It would be themed very similar to PC, but would be smaller and would have more sitdown's and more amenities. The look and the feel of the resort would be changed so that it is not quite so colorful, and a little more current. The sayings and the themes however would remain the same. OK folks, that is it. I feel like I have written my life story, and hope it isn't too long. I do want to get feedback from EVERYONE, not just the people who are participating in DCA. Thanks in advance for your comments and, yes even your criticisms too. ![]()

Re: The DC Apprentice Task 4
OK I was really kind of struggling to come up with what I should do, and today it really hit me. What if on opening day, you gave free tickets to Timekeeper, IF they are dressed as if they were in one of the decades represented in the park. Then, they would go home and tell everyone how wonderful the park is, and hopefully that would bring in a lot of people.
When I got thinking about it I thought, you know Disney is opening a new park. Does it really need any promotion?? I remember all the buzz when AK opened, and think about all the buzz with just a new ride opening (ie. ToT out in Disneyland, or M:S in Epcot).
