Pin Events at WDW

Has anyone attended a pin event? There is a event coming up in a couple weeks "Tinks Summer Pin Quest" at the Contemporary. I would be interested to know how one of these events work from someone who has attended one in the past. It sounds like fun, but I need more info to convince DH to go.

Here is a link to the event

I was just at the pin event in AK three weeks ago. "Adventures in Pin Trading" was my first event ever and I was concerned about the cost ($125 per person - including my four year old DD).

My husband is a huge pin trader and my daughter and I have recently caught the bug. We had an awesome time!!!! I am not sure how the pin event in July is going to work, but here is a basic rundown of the one I went to.

The day of the event, we spent at a convention room at Coronado Springs (which was perfect, since we were staying at that resort we went and came as we pleased). They played games were you could win pins; you could take part in a silent auction; there were boards open for trading; and there was a kids only area with animal masks, coloring pages, and pin trading. Like I said, we did not spend all day there, but many people did. We ended up leaving to have lunch and take a swim in the big pool. When we came back, we took part in some more games and then got ready to load the buses to AK. After a brief downpour we were on our way.

Upon arriving at AK, CM's were handing out poncho's (in case of rain again) and pointing us in the right direction. We all headed over to Africa where a lovely dinner was served (great food). There were TONS of characters and because this event was at night (and costly) there were very few children there. My daughter got to dance the night away with Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, etc. with less than a dozen other children. It was fantastic. The band was very good. Oh, the "characters" from the Adventurer's Club in PI were there and were hysterical!

They had "Games of Skill" for people to play. They were really nothing more than things to keep us busy, but we had alot of fun nonetheless. At the end of the evening they named one person "Ultimate Pin Venturer" (the person who won happened to be in the group of people who we had just met and spent the day hanging out with) and she one a ton of very nice (read: worth alot of money) pins.

While leaving the event, they projected a movie on the Tree of Life, that was a breathtaking site I will never forget, and a choir singing to us as we left. It was actually my DD 4th birthday that night and the entire choir sang happy birthday to her. It was amazing.

I think that we had such a good time because we went in with an attitude of whatever happened, we would have fun. Did we ever. Would I recommend doing an event, absolutely!!!!!!

Again, I have never been to a Contemporary event and don't know anything about it (except that I believe it is sold out). But it is definitely worth a try.

Oh my gosh, I completely forgot to mention the merchandise you get. They gave alot of very cool pins as gifts and cute little pin bags.

Enjoy!
Amy

Re: Pin Events at WDW

Thanks for the info - It sounded like a lot of fun. There was still room at the July event when I called last week. I will try even harder to convince DH now.
