buying pins on ebay, good or bad?

What do you think?, Do you think buying pins on ebay is good or bad? In my opinion, it is good because so far all my pins of come new and nicely packaged, but what do you think? Reply here so people can see the up and down sides of this.

Re: buying pins on ebay, good or bad?

We have purchased a few "hard to find" pins from Ebay and have not had a single problem. They are all shipped quickly, and arrived spotless! I have no problem buying off of ebay, though I'd rather be trading at WDW, but it helps us w/our PDD between trips. (P.S. I've never spent more than about $15 for a pin, I hate to risk losing too much $$ if the seller doesn't uphold his end of the deal)

Only one time did I go over 15$, it was when I purchased a 5-pack of D.A. and LE cruella pins.

Re: buying pins on ebay, good or bad?

I usually try to buy the hard to find pins as well on ebay. I have never had any problems and they are usually sent out very quickly. I have found that most of the ones that sell the pins on ebay are just as crazy about Disney as we are. Good luck!

Re: buying pins on ebay, good or bad?

for right now all I do is ebay, but yeah the hard to find pins and le's you can get them for great prices on there, and then find out that they are worth more than you bought it for.

The same goes if you started your collection on there. If you buy a lot of nice pins and hard to find ones, and then after that look at what you have altogether so far, you will see that you bought your money's worth since the price was so low and the value is so^^^^^^. This happened with me with my 5-pack of le pins like I mentioned. I bought them for 18.00 and found out that all of them can be traded for many rare pins and sold for 5x that price!

Re: buying pins on ebay, good or bad?

I buy off of ebay frequently. My pin collection are my souviegners from WDW trips. So what I do is buy for bargains on ebay. This is usually sets of 10-20 pins. It doesn't matter what the pins are so long as 1) They're tradeable, and 2) they average LESS than $2.50/pin factoring in shipping and handling (WARNING: Always check s/h costs before buying off ebay. Some people will sell you a pin for 25 cents and then charge you $5 for shipping--rip off!)

So right now, I have a lot of 58 pins I bought cheap. I don't want to keep any of them (In fact 23 of them are identical pins.). I'll trade them all off on my next trip, and like I said, they'll be my souveigners, which I'll mount and display in my office.

Re: buying pins on ebay, good or bad?

I've bought I think 3 pin lots so far. 2 were a pack of 3 and the third was 5. I always check to see if they have good prices on them but so far all the pin lot prices have been expensive. That's how you see how pin values go high. But ya, I prefer pin lots more.

Re: buying pins on ebay, good or bad?

I've had good experiences buying & selling Disney pins on Ebay. No complaints! As long as the ad says they are metal (not the plastic Spain pins - which are not tradeable!) and I can get them for cheap, they are totally worth buying. I'm going to start stocking up soon for trading purposes. Why pay $6.50+ for a pin at WDW if you're just going to trade it?? Ebay is the best place to get your trading pins...

I've never really bought any that I wanted to keep, so maybe I'm just not picky. But all of the pins I've bought have arrived in great condition.

Re: buying pins on ebay, good or bad?

So far since I haven't been able to go to the parks yet, (we were gunna go this month but plans changed), I have been buying pins that I like on ebay, more of the hard-to-find ones for my collection. I plan now on buying random pin lots now on ebay for trading in the future, or just buy pins i dont like at the parks and trade. But for now, I just buy the pins that I like off of ebay and keep them. To me doing that is what makes collecting fun!

Ebay charges you a listing fee based on your starting price. I don't really know how to give you an example, but if you start something under a dollar, the listing fee would be a certain amount. If you started it over a dollar, it would be a little more. It goes up in certain increments. The higher your starting price, the higher the listing fee.

They also charge you a fee once your item sells; it's a pre-determined percentage that Ebay will take from whatever the final sale price was.

These charges will go to your Ebay seller account, to which you must have a bank account and credit/debit card hooked up. You can choose to pay the fees using a PayPal account, or Ebay will automatically deduct them from your bank account/credit card monthly.

I hope that helped a little.

Most of them you can pay thru paypal. Very easy to set up a paypal account to go thru your bank account. Go to WWW.Paypal.com and set one up.
