Best place to get pins

If I decide to buy pins at Disneyland, which place would you reccomend to buy them?
The Disneyland Resort? The Emporium place? Pin carts?
Price and service and the number of different pins being sold in the area are what I am really looking for.
Thanks for anything you can shed light on.

Re: Best place to get pins

World of Disney has by far the best selection (followed probably by Emporium), so I like to buy pins at WOD....but trade them at the pin carts. The reason I like to trade them at the carts is because there are often "power traders" (the CMs with the vests covered in pins), and they have an incredible knowledge of the pins. If there's one I like, they can tell me what others to look for to complete the set, if the pin is worth anything, etc.

As far as price differences...you won't find much. A pin that costs $8.50 at WOD will cost $8.50 at the other stores too.

Wow, thanks for the advice:) The last two times I was at DL I didn't notice the pin carts, so I need all the help I can get.

You're welcome... Pins are addicting! I never thought I'd get into them, but once I did it was all a snowball from there...hehe.

Re: Best place to get pins

Strangly I didn't get into them until recently. I'd gotten the glow in the dark lanyard and pin from kelloggs, but I had no idea of the pin trading community, so I did some ebaying and searching and here I am...pin crazy...buying 30 dollars in energizer batteries for 5 free pins:)...lol.

Re: Best place to get pins

CBQ, hope this helps.

At the parks, pins start at $6.50 and go up from there. I'm not sure what you are collecting for. I do pins to interact with CM's at WDW and to bring home soveniers (as opposed to trying to build a collection of certain series, and etc.).

For my purposes, I save a lot of money through ebay. I buy any pin I can find for under $2.50 (INCLUDING shipping). I've often bought a dozen identical pins because they are cheaper in lots.

Right now, I have a whole pin book full of pins that I could care less about. The only thing they mean to me is they are Disney pins & they were cheap.

On my next trip to WDW, I'll spend the week trading this pins with CM's for one's that interest me. I try to get pins specific to the parks, resorts, and attractions--but not all.

Last trip, all the pins I came home with had Mickey on them. Those are my soveniers from my vacation and are proudly displayed in a frame in my office.

Next trip will be a different theme--maybe villians or Pluto or GRUMPY--and they'll go up on the wall on my office.

Doing this has saved me tons of $$$ (Or has caused me to spend more, depending on how you look at it.).

Re: Best place to get pins

Before you go to DL I also recommend EBay if you have the time and feel comfortable with it. Just be careful, because you may buy them and not want to trade them! Hehehe... This is one of the best ways to go if you plan to do much trading... You can save a ton of money! You can also get away with buying as many as 3 pins on EBay for the price of 1 at DL...

Once you are at DL then I think WoD is the best, Emporium 2nd best and the rest can sort of vary from time to time. But I must say that some of the coolest and most unique pins I have purchased were at some of the smaller stores spread throughout the lands of Disney and the carts too! And I agree with dznygirl, these folks often know what they are doing so bring them pins and questions...

As for me personally, I buy a handfull of trader pins from EBay and distribute them out to my family. We then use those to trade at DL. We usually only buy a few pins (if any) once we are there at DL, because we prefer trading...

Have fun... I am sure you will!!!

Thanks that helps. I'll think about going the ebay way, i'm just worried i'll get some non-disney pins by accident.
I think i'm just collecting cause I like collecting and enjoy the pins:)

Re: Best place to get pins

The Disney pins are listed pretty obviously. Sometimes an odd one gets thrown in by mistake.

Watch for price gougers, who sell the pin for 50 cents and then charge $4 for shipping.

Pin lots are you cheapest/best bargain. I once bought a lot of 20 identical Millenium pins--with shipping it worked out to $2/pin. I now have close to 40 Millenium pins, but everyone of them is tradeable when I get to WDW.
