Areas where you can find Cast Members to trade pins

I hope to head to DL in the Fall.

First thing I'm going to do is stop off at one of the pin shops.

Second i'm going to head to one of the places where Cast Members hang out.

Now i'm wondering where these places are.

Where are these elusive Cast Members?

I haven't been to DL, just WDW, but we've seen them all over. At snack carts, entrances to rides etc.

I don't know how it works in DL ,but you can trade with any CM that is wearing a lanyard. I believe the CMs are encouraged to wear them and trade...good guest interaction. My DD traded with everyone she saw in WDW and we didn't need to go to any hang-outs to do it...she stopped each and everyone she saw...oh believe me each and every one...lol

It's kind of up to cast members whether or not they want to wear one of the pin trading lanyards. They are supposed to have them everywhere...attractions, stores, etc. So it really just depends how many CMs feel like putting one on!

Like Dana said, you can trade with any cast member who is wearing a lanyard. I guarantee once you're looking for it, you'll find them everywhere!

But the best places will be like the Green Army Man store in Tomorrowland, because almost every single CM who works there wears a fully-stocked lanyard!

My lead at Honey I Shrunk The Audience used to wear his every day, and he refreshed the pins frequently. He LOVED trading pins with guests as much as they loved trading with him! Sadly, he no longer works there...but I'm sure there are lots of other CMs just like him!

If you look carefully you may just see one hiding behind the bushes, they are easily identifiable by their CM nametags but be careful of the ones wearing the green lanyards... they can be nasty buggers.

To answer the question, you can find CMs anywhere.

Just a little color coding to help you out (at least this is how it is at WDW):

Yellow Lanyard: the CM will trade with anyone
Green Lanyard: the CM will only trade with children

Ooh yes thank you for mentioning this. It's a little embarrassing to walk up to a CM with a green lanyard and have them give you a really funny look. Green = kids only.

I learned the hard way.

I had a cast member wearing a green lanyard asked my DD how old she was. That was a bit weird. She is definately a kid, but maybe appears to be older I guess. I am her Mom, so I can't see it..lol

I can't wait to be a pin trading cast member. I love Disney pins, and I think it will be lots of fun to trade with guest!!! I have a question for cast members: are cast members able to buy "cast member only pins" for their personal collection?

That is too funny! We have never done teh pin thing, but now that I have two DD's what age do you think they will begin to enjoy it?

We saw CMs wearing pins all over WDW when we went. It was fun seeing what pins they had and trading for pins you liked.

I've seen kids as young as toddlers really getting into the pin trading thing.

They may be a little young to understand the rules/processes of trading though, so parents are certainly encouraged to help them.

I never thought I would get into pin trading. But then one day I bought myself a couple of pins and tried it out. That's how addicts are born!

I bet your DD's could get into it soon. Buy a couple pins and find out!
