I took this off of the "Beginner's Guide to Disney pintrading" guide on eBay...

"Sedesma, Spain:

The Disney pin trading rules state that there must be a Disney backstamp on the pin to be traded with a park employee. In Sedesma, Spain a company started making a low quality "metal" pin with the Disney stamp on the back that are replicas of true Disney pins that people sell on eBay to use as traders in the Disney Parks.

Please read the pin surface descriptions above. All of the pins listed have a smooth surface and a quality metal base. Sedesma pins are very easy to pick out of a crowd due to their light metal base and non - smooth surface.

There is not a Disney Resort in Sedesma, Spain and Disney does not contract with this company to produce Official pins for the Resorts. These pins are traded in the park by most Cast Members, but must be removed from cast lanyards when the first opportunity arises. The new rules stipulate that the pin must be an operating participant of Resort affiliation and these pins have Sedesma clearly stamped on the back. It is an inexpensive way to get "park traders", but they are not official Disney pins any may cause problems even though sellers will tell you they don't.

If you have never seen a Sedesma pin you may not believe there can be this kind of difference, but there truly is."

I attached two photos of "identical" pins. The first is a Sedesma "cheap & crappy" Nemo pin probably retailing for about $.50 on eBay. The second photo is the Official Disney Nemo pin, most likely retailing on Disney property for about $6.99.

Yeah, the black edges give them away! Ewww... I avoid them. Sometimes the artwork is WAY not right!

Well, with that example, they are easy to spot.
We're used to pin trading with Odyssey of the Mind pins. The "real" ones are Disney quality and the cheap ones, well they look it. They look cheap and are easy to spot.
My boys don't trade pins at Disney, they just spend all their money on acquisitions

Oh, by the way I am down to 69 days and some hours

My boys were on a team from 2nd grade until 7th grade. Have been Michigan State Champions 3 times and World finalists placing 14th at U of Maryland and Bronze at U of Colorado in 2005. Most exciting program for creativity and teamwork

Those pins drive me crazy too. I wondered where people were getting them. Sometimes I would see "pin sharks" with baggies full of them for trading. When a guest would trade with me for one I usually would go straight to my manager and trade in for better pins. I would never make my "mystery pin" a sedesma. That is is just cruel!!! I was told by my manager at OKW that we had to trade for them because they have a Disney copyright symbol on the back.

I feel really bad because are first year of trading I bought DD a lot of them, but we never knew until one cast member gave us back one! We bought them on ebay!

I noticed a lot when we were there is September too, but I just let dd trade for whatever she wants and we put it into her in book!

ONE WORD . . . ebay!! But I figure what the hay, if the kids like them and there not TOO CHEAP and crappy I let them trade for them!! I just don't let them RETRADE them!
