When I was just in WDW last week I had a bag of traders and I was looking on a lot of CM lanyards for pins I wanted, etc. Well, the Sedesmas seemed out of control! More than I have ever seen on CM lanyards before. Dare I say that about 1 in 4 CM lanyards had at LEAST 1-3 Sedsemas on them! Not only that but you know how some CMs turn some pins "backwards" and if you choose it is kinda like "luck of the draw." Well I did that twice and BOTH TIMES were Sedsema!!! Then I feel bad and DO NOT want to trade them back to another CM b/c I don't believe they should be in circulation, I either throw them away or whatever which shorts me out of a pin.

So, what's the deal? I personally think it's REALLY unfair that they get circulated so prevelently especially when most guests are paying $7. PLUS for REAL Disney pins, they shouldn't get fake junk in return.

I noticed all the Sedesma pins too. I have learned to watch what pins Nate trades for after getting one a couple of years ago. I don't tell him which pins to trade for but I watch to make sure he doesn't end up with another one.

Good idea! But how about all these "turned around" mystery pins, can you believe the TWO times I tried that they were BOTH Sedesma?!?!!

I thought CMs were trained to throw them out, remove them from their lanyards, and identify fake pins?

I've had a few CM double check the back of my kids pins . . . the CMs with the green children only lanyards don't seem to care and they are loaded with them . . . My DD7 is pretty good at spotting them and not trading for them . . . my DD3 on the other hand . . . if it's a Princess, or one of her beloved characters SHE DOES NOT CARE . . . I let her trade for them . . . she comes home and puts them in her big pin book so at least they are OUT OF CIRCULATION!!

And, I think if next time you see one on a CM, you should mention it . . . they have a whole set of rules on the website about pin trading . . . AND that is one of them . . . they SHOULDN'T BE BREAKING THEIR OWN RULES!!!

That would really bother me. Nate only did one or two mystery trades this year and we lucked out and got good pins but I think I would have stepped in had he gotten a Sedesma pin.

THey're cheap plastic-like pins that aren't close to the same quality as the official Disney pins. I can tell the difference just looking at one and once I pick it up it's much lighter than a normal pin.

They are cheap plastic pins made in Spain . . . they are not the pretty metal enameled pins you buy from Disney! Most of the time they have black backs and say the words sedsema on the back!

CM are NOT suppose to accept or trade these pins . . . but they DO!!

I didn't think CMs were allowed to trade Sedesma pins but they are all over the parks.

A lot of CMs just don't know the difference when it comes to pin trading. It's generally not something that CMs are trained in when starting, they are just given a lanyard and told to trade with guests. So if you do happen to get a Sedesma pin, I would just nicely explain to the CM that you would like to switch it for a different pin.

I honestly DON'T think they are "allowed" to have them on their lanyards. ALTHOUGH, I have a feeling many CMs just don't realize, pay attention to, or really know what they are perhaps. When I traded with the Fireman on Main Street he gave me a "mystery" pin which turned out to be Sedesma and he said "Awww, you got a cute pooh." He had NO clue.

Although, I am NOT EVEN a pin aficienado and I can spot a fake from a mile away. Maybe I have a good trained eye from bag spotting. The Sedesma ones are CHEAP looking plastic, generally smaller, paint even looks chipped off sometimes, and the sell for like $.50 each on eBay.

That's EXACTLY the impression that I got, they just don't know. Although, for some reason I just CANNOT bring myself to say anything, I don't wanna feel like a jerk who complains. I usually just take it & throw it away.
