Re: Question for moms or dads...

I think it would be a neat thing to do. I agree you should do it with the parents there, and maybe strike up a conversation first. One way you could approach it would be to make it a bit like a game. Maybe you ask the child a trivia question about their favorite movie/character/character on their shirt/etc or something about the park/attraction they are at. Then, you could give the pin as an award or 'parting gift' if the child answered incorrect (or you could just ask another question until the child got one correct). It might make it a little less awkward than just "here's a pin for you".

I think it's a WONDERFUL idea! I, too, think you should ask the parents if it is OK to give them the pin, and then work your magic from there! I really think it would make someone's trip! YOU ARE SO SWEET!!!

I love your idea and think you are so generous, there are not many people like you around.

I agree with many others- give them to someone you have got talking to on the bus, monorail, shop's Que or for rides and shows. your act of kindness will be greatly received of that I'm sure.

They say it is better to give than to receive.

We are hanging on to some that are worth something, not much, but more than what we paid for. We were thinking of taking the pins we no longer want to wdw in Dec. and giving them away to kids that have pins hanging around their neck. Now the question (sorry it took so long). Would you as parents think it strange to have a complete stranger offer your kids pins, free? We will never offer without a parent present. We just want to do it in a casual way, not sure how yet, but don't want to scare anyone. What do you think?
I dont think it would not be a concern at all. With parents present it's a great idea.

We do something similar at the boardwalk in NJ. When we are done and have tickets left over we look for a family that we feel could really use them and give them the extra tickets. It usually lightens up there day.

Re: Question for moms or dads...

i think its a terrible idea, and you should give them all to me. (wow, that kinda felt bossmouse-like)

actually, as others said, asking parents for permission, i think it's a spectacular idea!! you'll make some kids so happy!!

Re: Question for moms or dads...

I agree with everybody else, that would be super sweet, and as long as it is done in the presence of their parents should be no problem. We have been given small gifts and we have given to others as well.

Re: Question for moms or dads...

How nice of you! I definately agree with the others. Just to say, "Is it okay if I give your child a pin" to the adult would be the best way. Also, someone mentioned doing the give aways when you are waiting in line and what-not. That is a great idea!

Re: Question for moms or dads...

Thanks for all the suggestions. For sure we wouldn't approach a child without a parent present or near by and I like the idea of just talking to them for awhile while waiting in a line. I'm thinking we'll more than likely give most of them away at the resort or as soon as we can at a park. Those babies can get heavy after a while and don't want to carry them around all day. I haven't counted them so have no idea how many we have, but i'd guess we'll be taking at least 50 so that's about 10 a day we'll give away. I guess that wouldn't be to heavy. Anyways, I can't wait to see the feedback we'll get. I know it's going to be a lot of fun. Thanks again for your input and kind words.

Re: Question for moms or dads...

I think it's a great idea. The year my DS started an older girl and her Dad gave him a couple pins to help his collection. Now we try to give away a couple pins to new traders too.
