How many pins to take?
I was wondering what would be a good amount of traders to take to the parks for a 6 year old?

I'd start out with at least four. That way if she finds some she likes during trades she won't have to trade out ones she really likes to keep trading. Does that make sense?

I do 10 a day . . . my DDs trade at least that! They
to trade pins!I buy them off ebay . . . never pay more then $2 each with shipping. Make sure they have 100% feedback as well!! |

I have about 20 pins now for her to take but I wasnt too sure if that was enough. 2 trips ago we took over 50 so she traded her pins and came home as left them all over the place and didnt take care of them so I was mad at her and sold them on Ebay but not she promised me that she will take care of the pins so we will see

Get her a pin book to put them in! My DDs love it and then trade with each other!! Kinda like sticker books when we were kids!! (we'll me, don't know how old you are?

At that age, my DD could have easily traded 25 pins a day, at age 10 probably 50 pins a day...but now at age 14 she probably only trades 10 pins a day. DS probably would have a lower amount of pins (he's more hesitant to approach & ask people things)..but at that age 10 pins per day would have been sufficient. Just depends on your childs personality and how much time YOU'RE willing to give up out of your park time to trade. DH is a BIG trader, so I don't mind so much if the kids trade alot...we're stopping at EVERY CM anyway!!

True it does take time . . . but for me it saves me $$$!! Cuz the kids go into a shop . . . TRADE, feel like they got something new and then don't look at the merchandise!!

Last trip, my oldest kids were 5 & 3. Pin trading was a disaster. Very time consuming, and they would trade a pin a way, then want to go back and trade back for it. This trip they'll be 8 & 6, and I'm not sure I'll let them trade more than a couple a day.

I've never had the above problem, my DD4 has been trading since she was two . . . she knows what she's looking for and goes on the hunt. DD8 is VERY picky and will look and look until she finds the right one! I let them look on ebay before we go too, cuz then they get an idea of whats out there and what they are looking for . .. pin trading is a TON of fun!! We it! |

My children love to trade pins, too. I would take at least 25-50; depending on how long you will be there.

Not sure if this is a well kept secret or not, but a CM at AK shared that each of the park guest relations counters has a book for trading pins. You just go to the counter and ask to trade pins. They pull out a monster book with a lot of pins! You can only trade two pins, though. The CM who told us made it sound like it's not well known so DS thought he was getting away with something.

To the parks or to WDW in general? My DD fills her lanyard top to bottom each morning before heading to the parks. She is never out of traders and it saves me from getting sucked into buying traders in the parks. We have a small arsonal of pins for the trip....two full laynards, 3 pages in a pin book and a baggie full of traders...she is armed!
