i think i did pretty good!

10 pins for $2.20 each including the shipping.

it's a mixed lot.

not sure what i'll get.

but i asked the seller to try to include more girlish ones, since they will be for DD...and me!

he said he would!!!!

bought them on ebay..from a power seller with 100% feedback.

his auction specified what the backs would say and even had photos...

said they were totally trade able and not the other types..which he named, but i can't remember what they are called now.

anyway, i am excited and can't wait to see what we get!

I have been looking at those grab bag lots, seems like a good deal! I got 5 pins for $10 including shipping - not a grab bag though. I got 2 that I really wanted and the other 3 I am saving to trade. I still have a buch of auctions on my watchlist and hope to get a few more to trade.

I have had lots of good luck with buying lots on ebay! The ones that you want to avoid (unless of course you like them) are the Sedesma pins...they are not good for trading.....but enjoy your new addiction () and be sure to share your finds with us!!

okay...now that i've been bitten by the bug...please give me some tips!

here's my first thoughts:

DD (5yo) will be trading only with CM's...probably the most likely scenario for all of us.

i've read all the info. on the offical site...but are there any "little known" tid-bits that you could share with a newbie??

Some resort lobbies have pin trading each evening . . . ask when you check in for the times!

Some CMs wear pins BACKWARDS on their lanyard . . . these are "surprise" pins . . . my girls to get them . . . and if it's not one they want they just re-trade it! You can trade two pins per CM. CM with GREEN lanyards ONLY trade with children . . . no adults!

Check "Management" cms lanyards . . . they have good pins! Most people don't approach them cuz they are always so busy. We find these CMs to be the MOST friendliest . . . specially at HS!

BUY MORE TRADERS!! Traders at the park are expensive, and once you start trading you'll want to keep trading!

I have a good source for ebay . . . I pay less then 1.90/pin with shipping . . . I can PM you if you are interested!

BTW . . . management are the folks in everyday clothes, but they have a name tag and lanyard around their necks. You'll see them "cleaning" up after a show or parade . . . like after the HSM show at HS or block party!

At all the pin stores, you can ask to she the "pin board" and the CM will go in the back and bring out a board or book with lots of pins to choose from! The kids go ga-ga over them!!

we are doing so many 1st this year! that might be my "thing" for collecting!

Trading is a blast, so take what you don't want and see what you can get. Doesn't really matter if you got your traders at a good price what you end up with as long as you like it, so that's all that counts. Don't be afraid to go around other pin traders, especially with your DD as many love young new traders and will gift them pins to keep their enthusiasm going, so take her there too...can't hurt and she can see a little more of what's out there. Also, another place to find some that can be as good as eBay but is generally safer for you is DizPins.com and their sales board, as there are a few sellers there that keep their prices decent and are constantly picking up more and different pins from the parks. I have dealt with rocke01 a few times myself and they've been great! Hope you end up having as much fun as I've had and good luck with your collection.

Congrats to you!! I have to get over there (ebay) and start buying some traders for DD. We have to stock up before August. She went through almost 60 traders (two full lanyards and a baggie) full of traders a few ago when we were there. It was worth it because she used them to trade with CMs to complete hidden mickey series. That and she traded with some little kids who were obviously new to the trading.
