Dumb question about traveling with pins
So, my wife, my son, and I are going back to Disney this June (yes!). My wife is heavily into pins and accumulated quite lanyard full last time we went to Disney.
Here's my question. This time we are flying to Orlando and my wife asked, will they let me on the plane with all thee pins? She does not want to pack them in the luggage, since some are somewhat valuable. Thanks! ![]()

I wasn't sure either and just packed my DD's in my suitcase. I was afraid that they weren't allowed on the plane and didn't want to take the chance. Good to know for next trip.

It might be a pain for the pins that your wife likes to wear on her lanyard, but consider it as an option. They do sell the albums that are made just for the pins. They are very nice, and pack very eaisly. :)

Re: Dumb question about traveling with pins
I'm struggling over the same question now. I counted my pins (100) and don't feel too comfortable putting them in my suitcase. I put mine in a pinbag I bought at disney online and I figure I'll just put it in my carry-on. I'm hoping it won't be a security issue. I'm flying in late so my first night will be spent reassembling my lanyard.

Re: Dumb question about traveling with pins
I collect the little mermaid (mainly sebastian,) cheshire cats, cindi castle, monorail, attraction & resort pins. For the attractions & resorts, I only collect the ones I've been to. It gives me incentive to visit the rest. I have every intentions on trading my little heart out this trip. I'm going to try to restrain myself from buying more but I have a feeling that is just wishful thinking.

Re: Dumb question about traveling with pins
I was just wondering, has anyone had any problems with pins since this thread? With ME, I want to have my pins when we go off to the park, so I would really love to carry my pins in my carryon. Has anyone had any problems at all with this?
I didn't know whether I should revive this thread or start a new one..if I did the wrong one, please let me know and I'll keep it in mind for next time.

Re: Dumb question about traveling with pins
Thanks for raising this thread OffKilterFan...I don't have an answer, but I am really curious as well. You can't even bring nail clippers on the plane anymore, so I'd be kind of surprised if pins were OK.
I know that knitting needles/crochet hooks are generally not allowed either...does anyone know if this applies to latch hooks? (<---if there is anyone who actually knows what those are! )

Re: Dumb question about traveling with pins
I brought my whole book of nothing but pluto pins (too many to count) on board with me in the plane. The actually had me open my bag to see what it was, but other than that no probs.

We used to spend all of our free time making the latch hook rugs when we were kids! I don't know if you can bring them on the plane.

Re: Dumb question about traveling with pins
It sure would be hard to do some damage with a latch hook. Maybe gouge an eye or two, but I'll just stick to using mine to pull the yarn through ;)
