Being the newbie in the group thought it would be nice to learn about the old timers.
If interested would anyone like to share... active or retired, where you're from, where you've been and where you're at now?

If you have any questions about the 2009 Military Tickets promotion, please let me know. I've found some good info about it.

6 days left. Just now realizing I made a BIG mistake scheduling to fly direct to Orlando and meet the family in WDW after 3 days of meetings at Corporate HQ. I'll be useless. Oh well, if they fire me I'll have 9 days to figure out what to do next. It will make the F&WF more exciting. Bonnet Creek here we come.

I agree with Pam&Rich about the SoG room size. We stayed there in '06, and the rooms were huge...we had two beds AND two pack-n-play cribs up with plenty of room.
While admittedly, the decor is not as Disney-esque as the other resorts, the patriotic Mickey in the lobby and Mickey shaped pool were nice touches. We also enjoyed the walk to the Poly most days to get to the monorail or use its transportation, since the SoG transpo was our biggest complaint.

I have a great contact for Bonnet Creek. Transportation is seperate from WDW, but as AP holders we take the car for max flexibility if the resort schedule does not meet our plans. Frequently we can get back to our resort by car before WDW ground transportation can. Just depends on the crowd level. Transportation is the only difference.

I really have to look into renting points next time around. This does sound like such a great deal.

SOG is great. I can make anything enjoyable when in the WORLD. We just use the room to recharge the batteries and off we go again. Now I will fully admit that the most relaxing time Pam and I had was a 4 day Wilderness Lodge escape without the kids. SOG's one MAJOR advantage is the size of the room. For me it is a Contempory size room at a Value or Moderate price depending on the season. We were spoiled staying at the Comtemporary during the SOG rehab.
We will be staying at the Bonnet Creek Resort next to the Caribean Beach a month from now from Oct 24-Nov2. I purchased points for a 2BR/2BA unit w/ full kitchen for $736.00. Breaks down to just over $80 a night. Our oldest 2 (of 3-25/22/19) are joining us for the F&W fest and it is better w/ young adults to have their own space. Also known as parent sanity relief.
I would recommend SOG especially if space is a requirement. It is very clean and the staff has ALWAYS been fantastic. The food is not great though. Pools average. Transportation average. But one heck of a deal during peak periods.
We weigh the pros and cons and base our plans on what is going on. And budget of course. I have never had a bad stay.

Hi Paul, doing great. I see you're going to WDW again in October. I am so jealous, I turned green after reading your meet and greet thread

Pam&Rich, how did you like your stay at SOG? I am afraid that it won't feel Disney enough for us. We love staying at POR, since we can't justify staying at Beach Club, which would be my home resort, if we owned DVC.
