How did you spend the holiday?
I just figured it would be interesting to hear what everyone ended up doing with their 4th of July, so I'm starting the thread! :D
I suppose I should start it off with how I spent my day. I ended up going to Universal Studios Citywalk. They had live bands & an AWESOME fireworks display. I think this one even beat the last time I was at WDW for the 4th & it was free, so that was cool. We played limbo with the stiltwalkers & had dinner at the NASCAR Cafe. My son & I struck up a conversation at the sports store with a guy who was down from Alabama for the week. I think my son (Tony) wanted to leave with him. We were looking at the NASCAR section & I asked him who we liked. Well, he rightfuly pointed to the FEW Kenseth items they had up & I high-fived him. Then, I asked him about baseball & he said "Braves chop". That's my boy. So, as we're nearing the door, I see that Tony has a little Kenseth car in his hands. So, I took it & put it back before we got "busted". I got just outside when this guy (Josh) appears with the car. He said, "Well, he looked like he wanted it" & gave it to Tony. The 2 of them then started talking sports (as much as a toddler can). Turns out, Josh had witnessed the entire tour around the store that Tony & I took & he just thought it was adorable. Then, we noticed that they had the Braves game on the Jumbotron & of course, I wasn't going to miss that. I found the rest of my group & agreed to meet up for the fireworks. Josh, Tony & I joined about a zillion people to go watch the game. Now, THAT was really fun. I'll tell ya though, that place got PACKED!! So, there's my tale...who's next? :D Hope everyone had an awesome day!!!

Hi Dawn. Sounds like you had a great day! Mine was ok. We had to spend most of the day at the hospital with my mother, but we left around 6:00 and went to a fireworks show that was really good. I was so glad to get away. Only problem was, I have a friend who I thought might get to go with us, and it didn't work out. But it was a pretty good 4th, considering how the last few weeks have been.

Great idea! We spent the day with family, had breakfast at a picnic spot up the canyon, so nice to get away from the heat. Lost a heated game of Scrabble to my 13 year old son (I think I lost a lot of credibility there....), and then came home and had naps, etc...
Last night, we went with family again to watch one of the largest firework displays in the country. They have over 300,000 people come and watch, and it lasts for about an hour. We had great fun, and even got out of there before the big rush. Speaking of last year, I was stuck in London with my son, and Minnie watched fireworks with our youngest from the grass of a children's hospital. She was even quaranteened from the other kids, so they had to sit by themselves. She was in the hospital for 6 days, awful tough for a 3 year old. Glad things were back to normal this year.

We actually had a day with only one brief rain shower so everyone was celebrating around here!
We went to a wedding which was held in a hotel on the intracoastal waterway and watched the fireworks from the pool area. It was nice. :)

I spent the day in my house, it was so hot and humid that the BBQ that we were going to have was cancelled. The temp was 98 but with the humidity it felt like 105. It was horrible. I did go see the firework at the beach and they were very nice. But the two hours I was outside was enough for me (I forgot to mention that our entire state of NJ was in a harmful ozone state).

My husband, daughter and I drove for two hours to Atlanta and they ran in the Peachtree Road Race. It is the largest in the USA and there were over 55,000 people running! It was an awesome sight. I did a good job of cheering them on. It was good exercise for our upcoming Disney trip!

I spent the Fourth at home at my surprise 40th birthday party!! Now I know why my wife said we couldn't take advantage of the cheap southwest airline flights to go this week to my second favorite place(next to home).
Now I'm hoping for cheap flights for a long weekend in Sept. or Oct. to use our 20-25 Plus tickets and go to the water pariks for free!!! Happy Independence Day!! |

Spent the 4th with family and friends. My Mom's birthday is on the 7th, so we usually celebrate it on the 4th since we tend to all be together then. One of my sisters had a cookout at her house for all of us. However, since it was so darn hot and humid, we spent most of our time inside since she has air conditioning.
![]() At night, I watched the Boston Pops and the fireworks on TV (and, since the NYC celebration was also televised this year, I got to surf back and forth and see the best of both.) Actually, I try to do this every year. I love the Pops! I have had the good fortune of seeing them several times in person at Boston's Symphony Hall. Frankly, when they perform at the Esplanade on the 4th, I have never had the desire to go there since the logistics are a nightmare. It was awesome (as usual). I had to pack for our mini-vacation to NH, too. So, I was able to enjoy the music while I worked.

I spent the 4th in Epcot with my family!! It was awesome, with a special patriotic ending to Illuminations. They played about 10 minutes of patriotic songs, with what my 2 DD described as the best fireworks show they've ever seen!!

We just got back today from the NJ shore. My in-laws have a summer house there where we spend a lot of our time in between WDW trips.
I spent the 4th with my wife and 2 daugthers watching fireworks on Long Beach Island, NJ. We contended with pseudo-Disney crowds to see the annual firework celebration... ho hum. I always compare fireworks shows to Disney, my first love, and this year was no exception. Yeah, there's Macy's, etc., etc., but nothing is as special to me as the fireworks behind Cindy's Castle on any day. I can still remember the day in 1975 when my parents and I saw our first presentation. It was a special place and time where everything Disney converged into one. Thus, for us...the Magic was born.:angel :) :angel

Well, I didn't do anything exciting like spend the 4th in WDW at Epcot watching the fireworks (I'm very jealous WDWJeff) but I did do a little swimming and eat some Bar-B-Q ribs, which is always a good thing. I just can't get used to being up North. It's so hard to go swimming up here because it seems that the water never gets warm. Even if the temp is in the 90's, the water temp is still in the 70's, and that is just WAY too cold to swim in. Everyone up here keeps talking about how hot it is, but it's really not that hot. I would love to see them down in southern Mississippi, or Central Arkansas on a hot, muggy, humid, August day. That is the definition of hot. It doesn't even approach hot here in the North. Ok, my complaints of the North have now turned to ramblings, so I'll stop. Did I mention I had Bar-B-Q ribs?
