Celebration, FL

Has anyone out there visited Celebration, FL? From what I understand it is located somewhere on the 47 square miles that Disney owns. Let me know if it is worth the trip?

Thanks!

Celebration is right in between Kissimmee & WDW off of 192 or I-4. It is a cute, quaint little city. If your curious about it & want to check it out (I did on my first trip after it was built), it's not an out of the way, distance trip, so I say go for it. It is really a beautiful place. They have a nice little coffee shop there. Go by for a little break & check out the town that Disney built! :)

We went to Celebration about 5 years ago during a trip to WDW. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Like Dawn said, it is very charming. We parked and walked around for about 1/2 hour. I remember it had some cute shops, a movie theater, and a park. We also road around and checked out the homes. I like the concept of the town, that everything is within walking distance. It looks like a nice place to live, plus you are close to WDW.:)

While Celebration is nice to visit, I would strongly urge to avoid living there. It looks really nice, sure! BUT it is ridiculously expensive. I was looking into 1 bedroom rentals there just for kicks. The cheapest I found for a ONE bedroom (LOFT!!) was $950! Let's not even go into what an actual "home" will cost ya. Plus, Celebration residents are now up in arms because their promised quiet little community off the tourist track is now proposing all sorts of timeshares, hotels & all the other touristy things that Celebration residents hoped to avoid by choosing that location. Did I mention yet what the houses are made out of? Trust me, you don't want to know. How they could charge what they do for a nicely painted cardboard box, I'll never understand. They look really nice, but they're about as sturdy & stable as a $20 wall unit out of pressboard that you assemble yourself from Wal-Mart & Big Lots. They're made primarily out of CHIP BOARD!!!!!!!

$950 isn't bad compared to some of the prices out here in Cali.

I've been to celebration about 3 times now ( The last 3 visits), the last one was this past december. The town is very cute, quite and charming. It reminds me of main street USA in a away, everything is clean and proper. Celebration also gives me a creapy feeling, everything seems so fake, have any of you ever seen "the truman show"?? For some reason Celebration reminds me of the fake community in that movie. We always drive thru it, looking at the nice houses. I've heard that they have strict rules for things you can/can't have on your property (or anything the public can see), an example is: you were only allowed to paint your shutters, and pick the color of your curtains, from a select group of colors (mostly white, light blue..etc.)..but then agian i just HEARD it, lol. Its a nice drive, and break from the parks. They do have a little "downtown" which has a movie theater, coffee shop, city hall, hotel, and practically every other shop a quant (sp?) town should have. Its located right outside the main gates, probably a 10 minute drive. I always wanted to buy a house there some day (im only 15!) but from what u told me Dawn....lol. Anyways, half the fun of going to WDW is staying at the resorts, that would be a waste of money if u lived 10 minutes away!

YEs! I would NOT want to live there!
The RULEs are REDICULOUS! You can`t pick the color of your own shutters,If you put those funny Pink flamingo birthday grams or those over the hill gravestone grams in someones yard they could be fined.
