Cell phones
I would like to know if there are cell phone towers near enough to the Disney Parks for them to be operable. We are planning on communicating through cell phones but it occured to me that there may not be a strong enough signal. We are on Cingular. If any one could help here I would appreciate it! Only a few days until my trip. The excitement is building!!:D

We use AT&T, and had no problems. You can call Cingular, and they should be able to answer your question. We called AT&T before we left, and they said all of the Orlando area was covered. Have a great trip.:D :)

Verizon is our carrier and we have no problems. It depends on the plan that you have and whether Cingular have coverage down in Orlando. If your plan doesnt cover out of state (from you domicile) and/or Cingular does not have coverage in Orlando, most likely you'll get a roaming charge along with your calls. That's going to cost you an arm and leg.

when I went to WDW two years ago I had Cingular and I had to pay for roaming do to the fact that they did not have coverage in the area. That might have changed since then and for you I hope it has because it cost me about an extra 75 cents a minute. Now I use verizon and they are very good, I have the national plan and have never once been charged any kind of roaming. Best thing to do would be to call them and find out, good luck:)

LRTJS - we got Cingular, from recommendations from friends living in the Kissimee area. Cingular has free roaming, nationwide calling plans available. I know they also offer to change your plan if you stay with them.
I used our phone with no roaming charges all over the world. I was on a Cingular tower for most of Disney World (they have a towere there now). The only place I was not able to get a signal was within the Innoventions buildings. Let us know how it works out! :D
