We leave in 13 days for Florida!! And I want to be excited but I am so worried about all those people facing ANOTHER horrible hurricane!!

I feel guilty about going there for fun when people could be in dire straights because of the storm!!!

I will be praying and sending pixie dust so Frances goes another path or slows its horrible winds!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no need to feel guilty about wanting to have a nice vacation - it is not at their expense. In fact, if people were to cancel all of their travel plans that would likely be hurtfully to the local economy! As well, it will probably help people feel as though the world hasn't stopped if they have jobs to go to and people to talk to.

So - keep praying and sending pixie dust but don't feel guily!

Hopefully all of this will prove to have been for nought and Frances will decide to burn out at sea!

I leave in 17 days and I feel a little guilty too but Chiasgirl, you made me feel a little better. I feel guilty for 2 reasons: 1. the people are still dealing with Charley and I would hate for them to have a double whammy. 2. (this is selfish) but I also don't want anything to disrupt my vacation.

The reality is that there are always poeple that in dire straits, but a disaster just makes a concentrated group more visible.

You should never feel guilty for having a good time, so long as it's not at the expense of someone else. Chiasgirl is absolutely correct, when you spend money on vacation, you are helping the local economy by helping to keep people employed.

If you'd like to be able to help out more directly, I'm quite sure that there are relief funds out there where every dollar helps. So something as small as a $20 donation could help make a difference.

once again .. I must totally agree with Matt. All over the world and even next door there are bad things that people must deal with .. if you let all that keep you from having any enjoyment then you will be depressed and miserable. of course this is easier said then done ..

I know how you feel. 3 days after 9/11 we left for vacation. I felt terrible at first. But there was nothing we could do and there is nothing you can do about this. I did see a special fund for WDW employees that had been funded by WDW and you could donate to help. Here is the info -

I'm with you all on this one..My DH keeps bringing it up and I just don't want to worry about it right now. What are the chances that a third hurricane could come when we are down there? My prayers are with everyone..I have alot of friends in the Melbourne area.

Don't feel bad...I got the shutters on the windows...beer & water in the fridge and when Frances is done and gone, I'll be on vacation myself 9/17 to Key West. We weathered Hurricane Andrew and had a few close calls (David, Floyd I think). Hopefully Frances will weaken overnight and we won't get hit too hard. I DO feel bad for the people who are still recovering from Charley. I hope they are spared this one.
