Unoffical Guide to WDW

I just got this book and have only gotten through the first 40 pages. I know many of you rave about it. I can see why. It is stunningly good!!

Could use some pictures though!!

Re: Unoffical Guide to WDW

They can't have pictures in the Unofficial Guide because Disney has copyrighted the buildings, etc.,in WDW so people won't publish them.

Hence, it's unofficial. Disney wouldn't permit them to use pictures in the book because there are some opinions in the book about Disney that are a little too frank for their comfort.

On a related note, I love the Passporter. I got mine last week and I generally find a reason to pick it up at least once a day.

What guide are you reading? Just curious. You should try the Brinbaum one sometime they have good pictures in there. :-)

Re: Unoffical Guide to WDW

I just purchased the new 2005 Unofficial guide, sitting on my desk right now. This is the first one I have purchased since 2000. It is much better now. I can do without the pictures, kind of like it that way. The problem I have with Birnbaum is that the pictures are great, but the content is horrible. Might as well pick up a free WDW brochure for the pictures, or do a quick search on the internet.

Re: Unoffical Guide to WDW

I have read Birbaums (sp?) and Passporter as well as a few others (Cheapskates guide to WDW, etc.). Most of these I have read three times through. I like them all on some level and I agree with both Mickey's and MerlinMatt's points. I am just amazed at the detail of the information in The Unofficial Guide to WDW. The chart that shows you day by day the projected park attendance on a relative scale is a great tool even if it is only partially accurate!!

I understand about the pictures. It was more a joke about my simple nature than anything.

Re: Unoffical Guide to WDW

I read on all ears net that there is a free web page for touring plans now, I believe its through the unofficial guide. I like the passporter too, it's like a condensed version of the unofficial guide. Plus, I love the maps and the pockets in the back. Very convenient. Birnbaums is nice for a quick synopsis of the parks, minus the nitty gritty details.

I'm so addicted I'll read every guide book I can get my hands on, but none of them compare to the Unofficial for information, advice and humour.

I wrote a new review in Review Central about the 2005 edition. I LOVED IT!!!!! I cannot believe how much it has improved since last year's edition.

Re: Unoffical Guide to WDW

I buy the Unoffical every year. I love to read it and all the little "humor" . It's puts a completely different spin on WDW, but it's honest...brutally so. I really like the little captions and behind the scene tid-bits they have next to the attraction descriptions and also agree that the projected park attendence is awesome. They do a great job...it's so big. I don't think there would be any room for pictures..lolol Another favorite of mine is the reader's stories and comments.

Re: Unoffical Guide to WDW

So, what does it say about attendance from Nov. 17 through the 23rd?

Nov 17th = 2 very light crowds park to see MK park to avoid epcot
nov 18th = 2 very light crowds park to see EP,MGM or ak avoid MK
Noc 19th - 2 very light crowds park to see MK or MGM avoid AK
Nov 20 = 2 very light crowds park to see AK avoid MGM
Nov 21st = 2 very light crowds park to see EP or Ak avoid MK
Nov 22nd = 3 light crowds park to see EP avoid AK
Nov 23rd = 3 light crowds park to see AK avoid MGM

The number is the rate they give the crowds conditions on that day with one being the lowest crowds possible and a 10 being WAY crowded. They also offer recomendations on what parks to see and avoid and I included that too.
