I just returned from Thanksgiving Week and the crowds were tremendous. To while away the time getting through the crowds, my brother came up with a interesting idea that turned into a game.

We would go into a crowd of people and ring a cell phone. With a cell phone, you cannot find the direction that the ringing comes from. You think it is close by. We would get points for getting people to go to their phone. We would give more points for getting them to answer the phone. You would get double points for getting them to check their phone, wait for them to put it away and then ring it again and see if they would check it again.

It was almost a candid camera thing. It was amazing to see how many peopel would instantly check their cell phone and the kind of things they would do. We saw a male/female combo get into a heated argument over who's cell phone it was that was ringing and how they needed to answer it. We saw people who would rip their phone open and start saying "hello?" "hello?" "who is this?"

We would laugh so hard that we would be crying. People and their cell phones are interesting. No one wants to miss a call.

A couple of people caught onto us and they laughed because they were had. My kids had the most fun with it. It was just so funny to see people's almost pavlov response to a ringing cell phone.

Give it try on your next visit to a park. It is great fun to while away the time waiting in line or just sitting there people watching.

I guess someone could always come up with a negative reason for doing almost anything. I and everyone else thought it was pretty harmless and it shows just how attached people are to their cell phones.

Hilarious!! I'm definitely trying this next trip! I used to have fun screaming "HI MOM!" from the skyway thing and watching almost every woman walking below me look up.

My family is all Johns....it's hysterical. WE have to give each John a nickname so they know when we are speaking to them. On my mother's side her brother is john and both her sisters are married to a john. They both have sons named john. My DBF is a john as is his son. On my father's side, there is my dad brother, my two cousins and a second cousin who are all john's.... We also have a mike thing. My father is mike and three of my cousins and my brother are mikes. The john thing is hysterical. Just yell john at my house for any given holiday and it's chaos....

The cell phone thing is hysterical. I will definately have to do that for laughs. My DBF would get a kick out of it. The attatchment people have to their cell phones is a bit strange to me. When I am out, I have NO desire to be found...at all. I actually just got one and only gave the number to my DBF and my parents for emergency puposes only. I got it for emergency use. I just don't have the desire to pick up the phone and call someone and walk through a store and have everyone hear my conversation....it's rude.
