My personal...dilema...
Okay...here is goes...i am about to tell you all a sad sad story.......
weeks ago in the begining of October..I began to plan my trip to WDW...I had made my hotel reservation back in Sept..and we then planned on going for three days and four nights...just enough to hit MK, AK and EPCOT...........I had long since discovered allearsnet.com but then when stormy night in october...i came across...disneycentral...i lurked for awhile...(okay three days) and then i learned the fine art of PS..and i made three (Chef Mickey's, 'Ohana and Rose and Crown all at the suggestion of DC members)..I learned what not to miss at the parks..books i should read..tips on where to stay for future trips when im a millionaire...how to use and where to purchase quick and casual meal vouchers...i even added days on to the trip to take advantge of the cheap park hoppers!...suddenly...i had it all planned out...down the the very last moment..then two weeks ago i woke up one saturday morning (this is when i usually did all my planning) and i realized that i had nothing left to plan...and for two weeks...i feel as though i have no more to plan and I feel lost...so much that i am out of the disney sprit almost...........i leave in 17 days..and yes..i am excited...but im not jumping out of my skin like i was... so on this thread........i am asking you..my fellow DCers..help me get my mojo back!!!!!!!!!!!!...i know there are quite a few of us who fall in and out of disney mania because our trips are so far or so close...Days 90-30 before your trip are the most exciting (with the exception of the 5 days before) but somewhere in there some people like myself have gotten lost... so for all of us out there who have "lost the good warm fuzzy feelings of planning..." tell me yours..anything..post pictures..tell me your plans..tell me what you think your plans are...goodness sakes..if you want me to help pick out your wardrobe i will!!

Re: My personal...dilema...
Aw! Over planners often feel this. I remember feeling like if I could just get ONE new peice of information it would tide me over.
I wish I knew what to tell you that would help you - maybe if you start planning YOUR wordrobe?

Re: My personal...dilema...
My trip is in 26 days...and I have planned nothing aside from my PS's. I'm just a go-with-the flow type of gal and I'm already feeling trapped by my meal reservations! LOL
Wait - I have a brochure. Well, I don't, my 9 year old does. He's reading up for me. What I'll do is each night or each morning, I'll read the literature in the hotel and the stuff that I have and the maps and that's how we'll decide what to do. And I'm sure we'll have a great time. I don't have any mojo now...nor do I want it. If I do get it this soon I'l get burned out. I'll get my mojo going when I realize I need to do laundry in order to pack. LOL My 4 year old has already started packing. It's quite funny really. She put all of her Disney hair doodies into Dixie cups and stacked them on her dresser. She's ready. |

Re: My personal...dilema...
I know exactly how you feel my dear. The rush of planning things is so addicting. What you need to do is go to your local book store and pick out a few new guides. Read over them slowly and enjoy them. It's not planning, but it's something to make you *think* you are still in the planning process. I do it every trip. Chin up now. The best way to get over planning depression, is to help other plan their trip.

Re: My personal...dilema...
Have you planned your daily itinerary? That could take up some time and get you focused again. Have you decided what to pack? Have you mad arrangements for things to be taken care of while you're gone (pet, holding mail, etc. ) Try some of those things.

Re: My personal...dilema...
just thought of something:
get your suitcases out and pack a little here and there. You can get some "disney clothes" together and get them in the suitcases. You can back your travel size stuff..you cna make lists...that's always time consuming and fun...for me anyway..lol

Re: My personal...dilema...
OR....you could call and cancel all you PS's and fly by the seat of your pants!!!
That would give you something to work on for the next 2 weeks. Maybe scramble your PS's and see what you can get?? I leave in a week and haven't done anything other than make my plane, room and Quicksilver reservations. The rest is going to be whatever feels good at the moment. Maybe try for a PS or two the day we want to do them.

Re: My personal...dilema...
If you REALLY need something to do....I need a really good packing list. I always tend to overpack and have so much stuff that we never touch (we drive so we can take as many bags as the SUV can hold) so I need something reasonable, yet prepared for anything. I'm 175 days out, but already in the "what should I take/what should I pack now so I don't forget it" mode. Think you can help??

Re: My personal...dilema...
All it takes are some friendly Disney faces and your right back in the swing of things. Here are some of the things you have to look forward to. Hope it helps.

Re: My personal...dilema...
Omg, Cinderbella, I know EXACTLY how you feel. And trust me, there are a lot of us out here who have gone through the same thing many times!
At the moment, I am "semi-planning" a possible trip to WDW in May. However, I'm trying to avoid the dilemma you're going through cuz it's a pain in the butt and seriously zaps away Disney excitement. I am only vaguely sketching ideas of what I want to do, and I am NOT under any circumstances picking a resort yet! If I do that, I will feel trapped and depressed and want to change my mind a million times between now and May! My suggestions for you? Scour your Disney guidebooks in search of something unique and out of the ordinary to do...maybe pick a completely different restaurant you never would have picked before, call up and change your PS! Give yourself something new to look forward to. Yank out that suitcase and start packing a few things...only a few things a day, though... Go somewhere and get your mind completely off of your trip for a while...take in a movie...but not a Disney one... And if you need a Disney fix, here are what I "think" some of my WDW 2005 plans may be... ![]() *Will be taking my husband to WDW for his first trip, so I'm waaaaay excited! Looking forward to showing him around, and seeing his reaction to everything. *Money is going to be tight, so thinking of doing a 7-night Dream Maker Basic package at either All-Star Music or Pop Century. *Absolutely HAVE to eat at 'Ohana on our arrival night...it's a WDW tradition for me! *Thinking of splurging at the spa w/ hubby and getting massages & pedicures. ![]() *If it is any possibility, would REALLY like to add on a 3-night Disney Cruise!!!! Sorry, don't have any WDW pics to share at the moment...long story...but I hope I helped at least a little bit!! This time is definitely the most difficult to get through...I think everyone goes through a bit of Disney Depression. But think how you'll feel the morning you leave! It'll all come rushing back in a huge, overwhelming fit of happiness!!! Have fun!!!

Re: My personal...dilema...
Im not sure if I am doomed or relieved- I have 56 more days and Im at this stale mate place. Im even getting depressed to see others go for Christmas and I was so jealous of the single digit dance that I had to add that I only had 9 weeks- I have nothing left to plan so Im shopping for gifts that are disney related- including for those that are not going. Im still excited - here is my solution, watch disney movies with the kids over and over, get the mickey mouse christmas movie that just came out, watch it over and over, find ways to put away $5 here and there and then convert it to disney dollars so its official. So far Im doing so good with this.....

Re: My personal...dilema...
Wow I thought I was the only one who got all weird like this! How comforting to know one is not alone.
I went through a serious mental episode this past Sept. partially related to my trip planning. My advice would be to just step back and focus on something totally unrelated to Disney for a couple days. You will miss it after 3 days or so. Sometimes you just need to step out of the box for a little bit.

Re: My personal...dilema...
I am so glad that I found the this site when I did. If it wasn't for the family here then I think that I would be lost too. I have ventured away to other sites to "educated" myself on hidden mickeys, have done some of my Disney Scrapbook (I really wanted to finish it before this trip). I've watched the "planning video". We are leaving tonight so that we don't have to rush tomorrow. We are staying at a hotel at the airport, so I know that we will hve a relaxing evening and a great start to the morning
