"Walt Disney World Holidays" on Travel Channel

Just watched this terrific show... they have it on the Travel Channel every so often... What a great show! It shows a bunch of behind-the-scenes stuff, like how they make all those baskets of poinsettias overnight, how they decorate all those themed trees, and even how they bake that life-size gingerbread house at GF! There are actually gigantic warehouses absolutely full of everything to do with Christmas, and it is absolutely amazing! It only seems like the Christmas stuff goes up overnight (it really does seem like it... we were there for Thanksgiving years ago, and one day, the parks were just voila! Christmas-y)... actually, it is ongoing throughout the year! I hope everyone gets the chance to see this program!

I love watching them make the food-related items. Like the chocolate (right?) Santa, houses, carousel, etc.
A friend of mine makes sugar decorations that look like glass. I'll sit there all day and watch him do that.

I took the holiday behind the scenes tour last year and learned that, in fact, the MK is decorated in one night!! I can't imagine the crew it takes to do that!

I can. Starting with all the trucks, the fork lifts, the cranes, the constant Nextel bleeps, the yelling and shouting once guests aren't watching. The pressure as the dawn starts to break. The increased pressure as 9 AM approaches. Oh yeah, I can easily picture this project.

Sorry... I should have clarified! I meant that I was amazed by the enormous and time-consuming behind-the-scenes effort made by the CMs well in advance of the big night (repair, update and store the holiday decor in really organized warehouses, and that the plans are laid in place well in advance for each and every park and resort, etc) so that when the magical decorating night happens, the whole plan comes together seemingly in the blink of an eye. Just the fact that so much planning and so many CMs work for so long to make the Christmas magic happen is the REAL magic!
I was also struck by the incredible plans that go into the holiday parade, just to make it special for the holidays! And little details like the outfits worn by characters in the parks... wow, what an awesome job they do! I hope somebody, somewhere is in a position to tell these behind the scenes CMs how much they are appreciated!
