Ok ~ I thought I knew where my oldest DS's birth certificate was, but I can't find it anywhere. I do have his social security card. Am I going to have troble checking in?

Please say no.

Re: Airport Question ~

have things changed that much since I flew last?? I would think the SSC should be enough .. I know adults must have picture I.D. but surely there would be no problem proving thats your child.

Re: Airport Question ~

Kids don't need ID, but if he has a school id or something, bring it. I have never been asked for any id for my kids.

Re: Airport Question ~

At Logan, they ask each child their name, we didn't even need the birth certificate for my sisters 19 month old...(with no seat)

Hopefully you will be fine. How old is your oldest?

Re: Airport Question ~

Small children do not need ID's...not terrorist. If he is a teenager as KarlieBug said student ID's/photos are fine. My teens used their student ID's/photos. It's only to prove who you say you are to get airline ticket.

However if you travel out of the country then birth certificates are needed to pass customs.

Re: Airport Question ~

My kids have never needed ID except when we've flown overseas (in which case they have a passport).

Re: Airport Question ~

Each time I have flown since 9/11, I call and check anyway...just in case. Kids under the age of 18 do not need an ID at all. My DD has never even been asked her name which is scary if you think about it. If your son looks older, bring the student ID anyway...I'd bring it just for peace of mind.

Re: Airport Question ~

Thanks everyone! I was panicing for a bit there. I swore I knew were his BC was ~ I'm always taking his out for every sport he sign up for. I just I mis placed it when after I used it when he wanted to open a bank account. Who knows, when we moved last year, a lot of things got miss placed. To many people helping unpack....

Anyhoo ~

He's got his last 4 years of School Id's and I have his SS card. So we're all set.

14 hours!

BTW ~ Dana, DS looks like he's 9! So no problem there!

Re: Airport Question ~

I've flown with my little ones many times since 9/11 (sometimes with DH, sometimes just me and the kids) and I have never needed ID for them. I always bring their passports just in case, but have never needed them except for going overseas.

You won't have any problems.

Re: Airport Question ~

It depends on how old DS is. If he is younger than 16 then it will not be a problem at all. if he is older that is when they start asking for a photo ID. You definetly will have no problem checkin in, it is getting through security that will eb the issue.
