I need to vent for a sec...

OK I read the thread yesterday and today about the castle. OK so there won't be any scaffolding involved, and it won't look normal when I am there, but OK. Whatever... That isn't even to mention all the rides that will be down, in addition to the central hub. I mean every park has an area that is being worked on right now. OK so then I read my AllEars newsletter today, and GUESS WHAT!? There is some sort of baton twirling competition at WDW ending the 21st(President's Day and the day I arrive). THEN I scroll down, and I see there is a Contest of Champions Nationals begining on the 25th(my last day at WDW). I am sorry, but cheerleaders REALLY get on my nerves (most of them). I don't want to offend anyone, but I just wish all this didn't have to be going on MY week. My mom cannot stand crowds, and I am the only one with some sort of patience. I have spent so long planning this vacation, and I just want it to be perfect, with low crowds and all. I guess I will just have to take my Tour Plans form Unofficial Guide, and force my mother to do them as much as she hates cutting across the park.

I wouldn't change your plans until you get there and see what the crowds are really like. We go during the summer every time we go, and to be honest, we don't have a "plan." We go and let the Disney Magic happen. We are not going to cover all the attractions so we pick some must dos and everything is just extra.

If you go in with a positive attitude you may be surprised how that helps your trip go smoothly. Most of the time the groups at WDW do not seem to change the crowds in the parks.

Re: I need to vent for a sec...

Like DT said....(Hi Steph!!! ) I wouldn't worry about it until I got there either.

We've been with both Cheerleader groups and Pop Warner. Park wise, you'd never have known the difference. Resort wise however, this last trip Pop Warner was with us at FQ....no big deal except with the pool. Truthfully, it wasn't the kids who were bad, it was the parents having a grand old time at the bar, talking so LOUD about the games and plans....lol!!!

So, my advice to you is...................

Hakuna Matata!!!!

I think I need to remember the Disney Magic aspect more often. I can't imagine Pop Warner at FQ. Why would they choose FQ over a value?

You'd be surprised at the amount of money parents put into their kids' sports teams - especially team trips. I can't even begin to count how much my parent's donated to my softball, basketball, soccer, track, and cross country teams. If enough money is donated through fundraisers and they end up with extra, then they'll usually raise the quality of where they stay and how much they do.

Re: I need to vent for a sec...

disneyguy, no worries. I understand why you would be upset--I would be too! But it probably won't be as bad as you think. Once you get there, you'll probably forget that you were worried about it in the first place!

And on the plus side: since so many of the cheerleaders/sports teams are there to perform, they have a limited amount of time to spend in the parks (between practice & performance.) Yeah, they drive me nuts too. But the percentage of time that they'll actually be in the parks compared to you is minimal.

So chin up! You're still going to have a fantastic trip!

Sprinkling some extra pixie dust just to make sure!

Hey! I was a baton twirler! We are NOT cheerleaders!!

I'm sure things will be better than you think. At least you're going to Disney... think how much more fortunate that makes you than most people.

I have to agree with you on that. Seems like Disney always has some lame, middle school/High School event going on like that.

Whats worse though is when they have all thoes "kids" that try to sing when it really soulds like someone killing a cat.

Sorry had to join the vent.

Re: I need to vent for a sec...

Oh as for the Castle not being "normal" I know what you mean. I'll be down thre in Oct. and I know the castle will be all changed (Why WDW has to do something so MAJOR for DL's birthday.

Did anyone see DL doing anything like this for WDW's 25th?

Hey - at least its a group of girls and not boys- I wetnt to Disneyland once and there were hoards of teenage boys everywhere from one group and they were rude and loud and cut lines and made the day very rough! Disneyland is not as big as WDW so it was harder for them to just blend in!!!

Hope for great weather! so far my forcast is getting worse and worse by the day!!

Personally, I think girls are WORSE than boys. Don't let this kind of stuff get you down, Disneyguy. You're going to have a great time. There really aren't too many "down" times left for visiting WDW. The crowds seem to increase every year. I think that it's great that so many kids can enjoy WDW through cheerleading, baton, whatever - my only gripe is that they never seem to be properly chaperoned.
