strange animal sightings ?

I have no idea why this struck me now, but, last year at the Contemporary I saw an armidillo. I had no idea there were armidillos in Florida!! I followed that little guy around with my video camera for a while, it was pretty cool to see.

Anyone else???

Re: strange animal sightings ?

We saw two mice, a couple of ducks and a dog running around loose but nothing out of the ordinary.

Re: strange animal sightings ?

we always see those fast little lizards(I think they are called anoles). The kids always try to catch them but are always unsuccessful. (Thankfully, for both the lizards and me!). We once saw an armadillo near where the resort buses drop you off at epot in the grass. We saw The largest grasshopper ever-about 6 inches long-outside our door one morning.Oh, and we saw an alligator(about 3 feet long) in a retaining pool behind all star music.

Re: strange animal sightings ?

lol...karliebug, my DH actually has caught one of those lizards!!!! It was his "mission" for the week!!!

We always see bunnies too...we've seen alligators at the campground. And once at CBR we saw a kitty. We think he must have been lost, he was very domesticated!!

If you drive up and downs 195 in florida, you will see a lot of armidillos. Of course they are no longer moving, but still, they exist here!

We've seen an armadillo by the side of the road. We stopped the car to get out and look at it. (it was definitely still alive - it toddled off into the bushes.) To me, it was so exciting. I've never seen an armadillo! They look like little armoured tanks.

We were staying at ASMu a couple of summers ago and were greeted with that sight when leaving our rooms for breakfast one morning. Very cool for us as there are no armadillos in the Great White North.

That water way is chock full of gators it runs about 10 miles east of my apt but there are connecting waterways that bring it about 40ft from my building. currently we have a 5 foot gator out there and several baby gators that I haven't seen in a while, there proably pushing 2 feet long. there working to catch the 5 foot gator but everytime they put out a trap he leaves for a few days.

Re: strange animal sightings ?

Like caver I saw a flying elephant in fantasy land...a few times...it's there often Besides that, I have seen a gator almost every trip which always is COOL. Adding to that, I have seen the anoles..another cool sighting for this jersey girl. Oh last trip that just past, I saw a cat at the AKL at the bus stop. He looked like he was living off the land all matty....shame for the kitty. I like the ducks at the MK too. I always hand feed them even though I know you shouldn't. I love how they take it right from your hand and all your fingers stay....the ducks in jersey would take your fingers with the food you were giving them..lol

Re: strange animal sightings ?

I love Dumbo. It's my favorite of all time. Did you drink from the same barrel of liquid? Back to animal sightings, well, really bugs- are there many mosquitoes there the end of April? And to stick to the subject- I told my DS about the strange animals that can be seen in Florida and he said "can we bring one home?"
