Anyone else read DisneyWar?

I am in the process of reading DisneyWar. It is basically a biography of Michael Eisner, and how he turned around Disney, and then his downfall. I would highly recmend it, very interesting to see the good Eisner did, especially since I only know that bad. So those of you who read it what do you think?

I didn't actually read it yet, its on my bookshelf, but I did see the author on Charlie Rose, and it sounds like quite a book.

Yeah, I saw the author on the Today Show. VERY, very interesting what I have read so far. It was all about the successes of the early animated Disney movies. Probably the most interesting part that I have read about is the plight of the animation department. Eisner came in and wanted to get rid of it immeaditly, but then he saw the power and the magic behind it, and then he wanted to keep it, now he has gotten rid of it. Also, it was people inside the animation depratment that were partly responsible for CG at Disney. Weird isn't it?

Re: Anyone else read DisneyWar?

Disneyguy,

I started reading Disney War this week and I am just intrigued by all of it. I read Keys to the Kingdom by Kim Masters last year and it had a lot of the same information in it but was really an Eisner basher. Disney War seems to be more objective, giving him credit for the good stuff he did (building so many of the resort hotels at WDW, live action movies, etc) while also pointing out the bad (Euro Disney, Disney's America, Ovitz)

I just posted somewhere else that having read Eisner's opinions on Iger so far in teh book, I am pretty surprised that he has been named the new CEO. Eisner seemed to have no confidence in him in the book.

Re: Anyone else read DisneyWar?

I haven't gotten past the part where Ovitz comes into play, and I wish that I had more time to do so. One of these days I will finish that wonderful book.

Yeah, they lie somewhere in the dust of my day. From the 6:45 alarm clock, to the full day of school, which includes no real lunch anymore due to SAT prep, then today I have my Year Long Biology Project, then to dinner for Mock Trial.
Yeah, and the 50 pages of Frankenstein that I am supposed to be reading is also holding it up.

Re: Anyone else read DisneyWar?

I am lucky that my job right now at a museum gives me lots of time to catch up on reading (it is slow season!) so I have been speeding through Disney War. Anyone who hasn't picked it up yet, I would highly recommend it!
