I want the re-release of the original. DD has worn out her VHS and I would love to get her a DVD.

Re: Peter Pan to be OFFICIALLY sequelled

I'm with Angie on this one. Why do they have to sequel everything? Do they not have original ideas left or what? The part two's are rarely good.

Re: Peter Pan to be OFFICIALLY sequelled

I know "Hook" wasn't official, but I found it to be a wonderful conclusion to the story of Peter Pan.

Hook was wonderful. Robin Williams did an excellent job. I didn't consider it a sequel only cause it wasn't animated, but you are right...it was well done.

The link I posted isn't a sequel to the Disney film, but to the original book.

Re: Peter Pan to be OFFICIALLY sequelled

Not sure I like this idea... I'm not generally a fan of sequels. Especially if the movie/book ended just fine the way it was.

Re: Peter Pan to be OFFICIALLY sequelled

I think this is neat. If it turns out to be a bomb, then we can just shrug it off and hope no one's stupid enough to make a movie version of it.

I'm just glad they're not trying to RE-write the original or something. That would be disrespectful to J.M. Barrie.

I second (or third) the approval of Hook. I absolutely love that movie. I couldn't even watch that other live version of Peter Pan that came out recently...it wasn't that it was BAD, but I have watched Hook since it first came out, and can't stand anything else trying to take it's place.

Anyway...back to the book. I'd like to re-read the original Peter Pan and then I look forward to reading Captain Pan as well.

Thing is... there isn't that much closure to the Neverland stories. They just kinda start and leave off.

From the POV of the Darlings... sure. It's a chapter in their lives. But from the Lost Boys and Neverland, we barely scratch the surface. There is a lot of barely tapped stories just waiting to happen or be closed. Oz had many many stories that never became movies, but there was a lot of untapped adventure left to explore. neverland is the same way and I say it's long overdue.

My thoughts exactly. And I agree with aecox too - do we really need a sequel to EVERYTHING. Peter Pan is a classic and it can stand on it's own.
