OK... We have had a Meet & Greet planned at Disney for quite some time. It was planned for October 4th - 11th. As of now I have only heard from a very small amount of people that they will be attending, and most of them are FL residents. I am begining to feel as if I am wasting my time planning this, so I am going to put it out to the DC community. You have 3 options: Scap the whole thing, Leave it for these dates(Only an option if you plan on attending), or Reschedule the dates. If we reschedule the dates I am going to set it to a time for when a lot of people already have booked, such as over Halloween, and also for a time when there will be a prominant DC member there that will be able to assist in running things down there. So PLEASE vote, and PLEASE give me input!!!!!!!!!

I think you should move it to the weekend of Halloween and have it for a weekend and not an entire week. That way people are only committing to a few days and not their entire vacation. Maybe something on Friday the 28th, Saturday the 29th and then maybe trying to do something with the Halloween party on the 31st. It's easier to have a few events for people to come to and then have the rest of their trip to spend with their families. We need to get a list together soon for the 31st because that sells out quickly. Please let me know how I can assist with this. I hope to see some DCers there if that's what you all vote on. I will be in WDW from the 27th of October on till the 2nd of Novemeber as of now. I am staying at PC for the time being and may change back to POFQ if some discounts come out, but more than likely am just going to save the money and stay at PC.

DG, I'm sorry. I know it's gotta be frustrating to feel like not many people are coming. IF DH and I end up going to WDW this year (and that's kind of a big if) we would be going the first week of October, so we would be able to pop into the Meet & Greet. But we would probably be very last minute, so I can't give any kind of prior commitment.

I think rescheduling it might be better, if you can get commitments from more DCers during a different time.

I couldn't do it in October in any case, but I felt what was being presented was a bit overplanned & w-a-a-a-y out of my Disney budget. I would be much more inclined to attend a more informal and shorter M&G. Something along the lines of "Everyone who can be at WDW on [insert date here] is invited to an evening M&G at [restaurant]." This makes it a fun part of my trip and not the center of it.

Halloween weekend would work for me too, as Iam going 10/29-11/5.
However, I would only commit myself for an evening, a few hours not for the whole weekend or week. When your travelling w/family it's hard to take them away from your already planned activities to do something else for yourself, IMO. A dinner event at say Epcot would be great but Iam spending Halloween evening with my DD and my DM will be with us too, so that evening is devoted towards my DD and I won't break those type of plans.
And if there is a event scheduled I would have to bring my DD and my DM with me, I just can't ditch them.
It is great to meet up like this, and Iam all for it, but dont want to give up part of my vacation, as I plan everything out 6mos ahead of time so I can make my PS's.

I agree that it's hard to plan an entire week or weekend toward a meet and greet especially when traveling with family. It's only me and DD this trip, so it's a bit easier for us to do stuff like this. One or two options for a meet is a good idea. I will only be able to commit to that many anyway. My DD had tons of stuff she wants to do this trip that we have never done. We are going to Sea world on the 30th for their Halloween thingy and the Artic tour and we are thinking about spending an off day at FW for the horseback riding and other activities there. I wouldn't mind meeting up for a dinner or a parade or something one or two nights. That's all I think I am going to be to 100% commit to.

I can be there anytime you plan it, and I agree with what others have said - make it a tad smaller and less planned. I envision a dinner with nametags and prizes, maybe even certificates with funny sayings about people, etc.

OK it definetly will be scaled down. Even before I posted the thread Dana and I had discussed scaling it down, so that WILL happen. I just need input on what to do with the dates.

I plan on going to Sea World too, but not on that day. I was thinking in the middle of the week sometime, do you think they will be planning anything special like that a couple days after halloween?

well, I'm not going...but since you said EVERYONE, I'll post.

I think scaling down would be necessary. I don't know the exact details, but maybe a small get-together for a meal while the time for the smaller group, and a larger dinner for the larger group. No need to totally deprive people of a small meet and greet.

I only saw events for the weekend of and the day of Halloween. I really didn't look at the days after. If you go to their website, it lists the days they are going it under "special events" If you are going to get the tickets ahead of time and don't have hotwire, let me know. I was able to get adult tickets for SEa World for $44.84....that's extremely cheap.
