This is a new thread where we can all discuss our various Disney collectibles! Absolutely anything and everything Disney!

My collection mostly consists of Disney DVDs and videos, but I have some pins and some Herbie the Love Bug stuff!
I've got all the old Love Bug View-Master reel sets, as well as various sizes of Herbie die-cast cars as well as the small and medium size herbie bean bags! (Don't have the super huge one that was at the Disney Stores though!)

I've also got quite a bit of Disney "paper", i.e. napkins, menus, cards, stationary and the like from The Contemporary resort. I find these to be some really nice keepsakes that are all to often taken for granted! I'm hoping to get some more of this type of collectible when we stay at the Polynesian this summer!

very cool collection, Amelia's Man. i try and take home the stationary things from resorts too! we even use the mickey coasters at home.

i collect penny presses from WDW (and various other places), and also pins. my biggest disney collection, however, is the LION KING! i have so much simba stuff, its crazy. my room is covered with posters and lithos and simba collectables. mostly simba PLUSHIES!

so Amelia's Man, i say go for that huge herbie!

P.S. here are two pics of some of my plushies

Re: Disney Collectibles

I am a huge Herbie fan, but I pretty much only have a Herbie beanie and a Herbie Christmas tree ornament we bought recently. Where did you get all the stuff AM?
I do have a huge collection of Disney plush under my bed, and between my family a huge amount of other stuff such as a newspaper from the opening day of WDW, but pretty much my mind has gone blank.
I love the stuff you can get at WDW! I got a Rex bean bag at X-mas that makes him look really dim, but all the more likeable!

Nala, you weren't kidding on liking the Lion King! Thats quite a plush collection you have there! I'm going to keep looking for the "giganormous" Herbie!

Lenny4eyes, I too have the Hallmark Herbie ornament! I forgot to add that when I posted! Most of my collection has been bought at various toy stores, Disney Stores, and WDW! The View-Master reels were Christmas presents to me when I was a kid! I remember getting those like it was yesterday!
Polar Lights (a model company) has put out a detailed Herbie model kit that I'm searching for, and the diecast company, Johnny Lightning puts out 1/64 and 1/18 scale diecast Herbies that are top notch!

Re: Disney Collectibles

While my favorite thing to collect is Disney snowglobes, they can get pretty shpendy. So I only have 4 or 5.

But my 2nd favorite thing to collect is Mickey Mouse plushies, dressed in all different costumes. I love to buy complete sets (like in 2000, when they had a set of 6 "Mickey Through The Years" plushies, all the way from Steamboat Willie to a futuristic Mickey). I have several dozen plushies altogether, but no space to display them right now. I can't wait to buy a curio cabinet for them!

I will try to post pictures sometime if I can.

P.S. Nala, your collection is just AWESOME!!!!!!

Re: Disney Collectibles

Remember when Disney beanies were almost as popular as Ty Beanie Babies?? Well, I collected some Disney ones at that time. I remember waiting in a long line, hours before the Disney Store opened, to get a limited edition Pooh plush dressed for Christmas, I think! It has been so long ago, I don't remember how Pooh was dressed! But they are all in a big plastic tub in a closet. It would be fun to pull them out and go thru them with my DD.
My DD (and myself) collect snowglobes. She likes the small ones and they are all on her dresser. I usually get one big one a year. We display about 3 of the big ones in our family room (they are up high so the kids do not get to them!) And we have a few in their boxes in the closet. Not enough room for all of them.
And then there are the pins of course. My DD loves to pin trade so...
And we do get an new ornament each year.

Re: Disney Collectibles

I collect anything Maleficent. It's not too expensive as there isn't much out there. One day, though, I'd like to be able to afford the Sleeping Beauty Collection ~ the one in all white (looks like Lenox) But each piece is like a zillion dollars!

The kid started collecting pins last trip. And I've been buying a few off ebay since we've been back. They like to trade at home with their cousin and his dad who are big pin freaks.

DS (14) loves anything stitch, and my aunt has been buying snowglobes at the Disney Store for the girls when they are on sale. They have a few of them now.

WOW! That's incredible!
I used to have a Simba plush when I was younger...it was right after the Lion King came out, and I saved up 14 whole dollars to go to Fred Meyer and buy it...and I wore that thing out until it had holes in it. I was THAT in love with it. I wish I still had him.

But now I have a Koda from Brother Bear, and he's already getting as ratty and well-loved as Simba was!

Re: Disney Collectibles

Although I've collected several Disney collectibles (assorted pins, "beanies", ornaments, and movies) over the years, I never actually thought of those as collections. I just purchased the items that were of special interest to me (such as my state's pin). However, I have collected music boxes for a long time. It jsut so happens that most of my collection (about 30) are related to Disney and, as a result, most of them are snowglobes because music boxes that aren't snowglobes are rarely produced for Disney anymore. One of my first Disney snowglobes was a Mickey Mouse Sorcerer's Apprentice. Unfortunately, that one is long gone because my frisky cat knocked it off of my nightstand and it smashed into too many pieces to salvage. I lost a couple of others to accidents, too. Now I tend to display them in curio cabinets and other out-of-the-way places.

Re: Disney Collectibles

My oldest DD collects snowglobes,my kids and DH all are into pins. DH always tries to get the whole cast laynard series each time we go. I buy cookie jars. I have about 50, but they aren't all disney. Probably about half are disney.

Ha! Ha! Too true on that one! We always save those! They also make great collectibles don't they?! Another little "gimee" that you get, is at the Sci-Fi diner! When youorder a burger, they stick a plastic pick in it that is shaped like the Disney MGM water tower!

Plus those neat light up "ice cubes" that they put in the enormous rum drinks there!

Re: Disney Collectibles

Gosh! I don't even know where to start....
First let me preface this by saying that I know I spend waaaaayyyyy to much money when I go to WDW!
I collect some Disney snowglobes...probably have about 20, none of which is out of it's box (my house is way to small for all my collections!)
I collect some of the Big Figures. I have: Mickey, Steamboat Willie, Canine Caddy, Sorcerer, Minnie, Donald's 70th, 2 different Goofys, Pluto, Mickey's 75th? I think, and 2 different Grumpys.
I collect Disney attenna balls, and have about 30-40 of them.
I really love to collect things that were used in the parks. I have 2 WDW sign post banners, a metal sign advertising Catastrophe Canyon. From DLR I have a large Disney Celebrates America sign, a Pinnochio parking lot sign, a 45 years of magic castle cutout, a Disney's Electrical Parade press event sign.
I also love the Mickey Mouse Club stuff from the 50s and 60s and have gotten some collectibles from it on ebay and at various antique stores.
As I said before.....I spend waaaayyy to much money at WDW and my house is waaaayyy to small for my massive collections!!

I there a support group for people like me??
