Icon7 Question about Flying (on a plane!)

Ok, I admit this may be a lame question, but I haven't been on an airplane for a vacation since DH and I went on our honeymoon to St. Croix 20 years ago. Each person can take a carry on and a personal item on board with them. I plan to take a carry on luggage plus my laptop case (which looks like a backpack). Can I put my camera case inside my laptop case and that will only count as 1 extra personal item? Same with the 2 kids- they're each taking a backpack filled with their "fun" items, i.e. CD players, Gameboy. Just want to make sure that no matter how many other personal items you put into that one backpack, that it only counts as 1 extra besides the carry-on. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks! Would hate to find out differently when it's too late.

Re: Question about Flying (on a plane!)

Trust me, you can stuff anything you darn well please into that bag; as long as it zips and it fits under the seat in front of you, it's one carry-on! I once spent three months in europe with one hiking backpack and one "carry-on." And my roomie and I just spent a week in London without checking any luggage at all! Thank goodness for the "ziplock bag" method of packing.

Your carry on luggage, must be within the size allowed. There is a box when you check in. It must fit inside this box or they will make you check it.
