Anybody having a Disney Halloween at home?
I was wondering if anyone will be having a Disney Halloween at home? Costumes, decorations, etc?
For our costumes, we will have a little Pocahontas but everyone else will be the traditional scary, with the exception of Little Red Riding Hood. I might as well just go as "Big Mama" since I've gained 35 pounds and look like I am ready to pop with this pregnancy. But our decorations will include much more Disney than usual this year since I was able to catch some great clearance deals on the DisneyStore site last year. What about you? :devil

I've got a Mulan and a Disjointedpreteenwithanattitude. At least that's what I'm calling him this year. :D
We go all out in our little neighborhood with decorations. I really love the Disney pumpkin cutouts, so was thinking of lining my driveway with them. If my potatoes were boiling over at the moment, I'd describe a bit more...

Our kids have always been "characters". They have also dressed up in Disney costumes for Halloween.
Our 7 year old son loves WDW, Disney videos, etc....but he thinks he's "too old" to be wearing Disney character clothing. In years past he has been Captain Hook, Woody, and Buzz. This year he's going to be an injured hockey player (missing teeth, oozing cuts, etc). (He is on our local Mini Mites in line hockey team, so mom and dad got by with a really cheap costume this year!!! Yeah....more $$$ for vacation!) Our 2 year old is REALLY into 102 Dalmations....so we got her a "Purdy" (Perdita) costume. She is so excited. I just hope her costume won't be too hot. October evenings in Central Texas can be in the 70šs. (and sometimes the 40šs) Maybe I should get her a Tinkerbell costume, just in case!!

Halloween has never been a really big holiday for us. My DD has always been petrified of masks & still is at 17. We have no idea why. But she was Jasmine one year, Snow White another, & Ariel another. Just no masks! We did get the Mickey & Friends pumpkin carving/decorating kit this year. It's got enough stuff for us to do pumpkins for many years to come.

This year my DD had the toughest time deciding which princess to be. The one with the coolest wig won out...Belle it is ( I think because my daughter has blonde hair, she liked the idea of it being brown for a night) We probabally spent an hour picking out a costume and all the right accessories though! :) Last year for Christmas Santa brought her a Sulley costume and she still wears it all the time.
Last year she was Bullseye and her little friend down the street was Woody, they were such a cute couple (of course, living on a horse farm she had to be a "horse" not Jesse!) Nothing beats Disney costumes to keep the magic all year long!

We're doing a Disney themed Halloween party for the neighborhood kids this year. It's something my mother has done since her only child grew up. Our neighbor's house is going to correspond to ours and her kids are going to be Sully and Woody.
We bought the party kit from the DS on discount last year after the holiday so we're really looking forward to using it this year. A little timesaving hint for next year: I bought foam pumpkins from the local craft store so this weekend will be spent using Mickey pumpkin cutters to cut them into jack o lanterns. We're going to use them outside and they should store well for years to come. Also, Ilvminnie, if you're worried about your daughter's fear of masks at 17--don't. There are a thousand reasons why. I'm 26 and have feared clowns, santa and the easter bunny since I was 5. I still do and don't know what I'm going to do once I have kids of my own. (guess that's where the husband steps in) I suspect those 80's horror movies are to blame :laugh :) |

Great Topic Cinderellafifi!!!
I bought at the Disney outlet the box of Halloween decorations, it's got some great hang up stuff and I can't wait to get them set out. And we also bought dd costume "Jessie" there also for a lot less. If I had only waited just a wee bit I could have used that Disney discount :D :) I am thinking about finding a Halloween Avatar to use to get us all in the Halloween/Fall Spirit of things. Any good suggestions for sites I can look at? Amethyst and Ilvminnie, I love Halloween but hate the masks too! LOL I have been terrified of clowns since I was little and still don't like them. It's been a big family joke for years :o

Thanks amethyst & goofette! I always wondered if it was something I did, but neither one of us could think of anything. I remember once when she was about 4 we took her to the circus & the clown tried to play with her & she freaked. And then we took her to Disney On Ice once & they wanted her to come out on the ice with Mickey & everyone & she wouldn't have anything to do with it!!!! She's excited about the Not-So-Scary Halloween party though because she says they can't really make it scary 'cause of the little kids!

My youngest, who is 9, is the last one to trick or treat! So, I went to Disney store, and when I walked in they handed me a $10 off coupon off any Halloween costume. She's going to be Jesse. Of course, once we added everything up, it came to over $50, but she did get the pooh flashlight and a collapsable punkin for her candy, for free!

Ilvminnie: I'm 99.9% sure it's nothing you or your DH did. It's just one of those fears. I have no reason why I'm scared & can't recall one incident where any of those characters actually harmed me. Nor do I recall any stories in the news about them harming anyone. Yet, I shake like a leaf whenever I'm near them. I'm terrified.

Anethyst, I shared your fears with my DD & it made her feel better. I think she's embarassed around her friends that she has this fear, but it is real. We were just in Italy (EPCOT version!) 2 days ago & she loves to watch the street mimes with the masks & all, but wouldn't have anything to do with getting her picture taken with them. She was fine with the characters, though.
